Boulder Goblins!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sooo me and my buddy are going from Fort Knox, Kentucky to Louisville on 31W North to see these 2 chicks we know and kick it, smoke and joke at 11pm today. I take the Gene-Snyder exit and hit mile maker 1... and see a rock... the size of a tire in the middle of the left lane. Didn't have enough time to react so basically I hit it. Sucked under my frame, BOOM BOOM... smoke EVERYWHERE! I pull over after cursing at everything under the sun and check the damage. A hole about 5 inches long and gashed like a biotch in my oil pan when I checked under the car. Plus a huge piece of wood inside the cut. I was sooo pissed... good thing for being a AAA member. So by 11:30 I had the police there, my claim filed with my insurance company and a complimentry tow to the local Aamco. SO now im down a car for 2-3 days, boooo. Who the hell puts rocks the size of rhinos in the middle of the road? Seriously... plus oil all over my trunk and rear bumper. Anyone know of what damages or price I could be looking at. The car is a yellow 06 SS/SC with 39K miles. Still under warranty and with full coverage. Get back at me.

Depending on what you smoked earlier that night it very well could have been those blasted goblins!

I'm in the military, so "smoke and joke" is your "hangout and chill" motto. I didn't mean actual smoking the shiba.

assuming the only damage that is done is to the oil pan it should take no more than a day at the shop.

Is it covered under warranty or no? It isn't "normal" wear and tear.

you'd have to take it up with your insurance company because it's an 'accident' oil pan is about 100 bucks and probably another 200 in labor. But your insurance company might call it an 'act of god' something that was beyond your control but it just depends on what story you told them, or if you have told them anything. I'd tell them that you were driving and the boulder 'rolled' into the street (aka rockslide) while you were driving or something to that effect.

I told them it probably fell off the back of a truck or something. It wasn't mountainous area, all flatland. I got the names of the officer, his badge number and the AAA guy for verification if they ask for whitnisess or anything. They are going to call me back monday and process the claim.

Should be covered by insurance, but you will likely have to pay the deductible.

GL with insurance. Really shouldn't of made this thread until the claim was settled and you received your check. They could use the changing songs as a reason to not cover you.

Example: If I kept the thread up of the idiot who pulled out in front of me and I t-boned his sorry azz I could've been screwed big time due to the opposing party could use this thread against me. The wreck happened in September 2007 and end of last month I finally got my check. It took the speaking of lawsuit to get his(Hartford) insurance to freaking do something. My insurance company took his company to arbitration and settled for 80-20 which is BS since he was 100% at fault instead of 80%.

Best of luck! My buddy got passed by a semi truck where a rear drum came off and slide under his car doing couple thousand bucks of damage. He still hasn't received the check from them so his insurance took the blow.

I go through USAA and they only do military. I have NEVER filed ANYTHING with any of my other vehicles under them in the 2 years I have been with them. Its all just a waiting game.

Depending on what was actually damaged.

USAA #1!

My insurance too. Best dang insurance out there! So you have NO PROBLEM with them trying to drop it against you. My adjusters have been the best even in that waiting game with my last claim even though a month later I had to file another one for the cobalt. 3 Claims in under 8 months with my insurance and insurance hasn't gone above 150 thank god. That's why I praise them. Make sure the shop owner who fixes it is a USAA member too. You get a little better treatment.

How much did your insurance increase after the claim?

I memorize the radio station settings and where the change track buttons are. Never look at the CD changer. I can't remember last time I looked at it while driving. I spend all the time looking before I move.

So an update on the situation: I finally foundout that I hit a tree stump instead and there was wood lodged inside the oilpan. It is going to cost me 500$ to repair everthing. After labor at 60 an hour plus 185 for the oil pan and a filter with oil it comes out to that. Its going to be down till Thurday the earliest, takes 3 days for the oilpan.

Sooo I called a chevy dealership since the place that is fixing my car was charging me 5 hours of man power and asked for the man power hours in the book. They told me 3.51... so I called the people back and told them and got it reduced to 384! Shows what researching can do
