Brake-shifter

I have an '07 cobalt with the 2.4L and it's automatic...I recently put my foot on the break to take it out of park and there's this clicking noise that I hear and don't think I've heard before. The clicking is coming from inside where the shifter is, wondering if anyone knows anything about this? I was actually bringing it to the dealership tomorrow cause it's under warrenty plus a few other problems...

It's the safety pin or whatever inside (dont know the technical name) moving so you can shift it out of P. There's a safety interlock that only allows you to shift out of P with your foot on the brake. That's just the interlock disengaging.

But is it suppose to make that predominate clicking noise? Cause I don't think I've heard it before.

thats exactly what it is ... shift interlock cable and that is even the technical term lol

its a safety feature so you cant take car out of park without engageing the brake pedal

It's normal. My cobalt has done it since I bought it, and so have all the other cobalts on our lot. Nothing to worry about!

Normal. Almost all automatics do it now a days.

All the dealer will do is most likely grease it so that you wont here the click so much,or maybe there is a little shock obsorbing material that is wore through or missing which dampens the click.
