When it got cold a couple weeks ago, my breaks made that sound when I pulled out of my driveway and out of the neighborhood. After that..nothing. It seems like they just needed to get warm or something. Dunno for sure.

same deal here 2.4SS with about 13,000KMS it only makes that strange sound when reversing first thing in the morning or after a long sit, and this is only during wwinter so it has something to do with the cold.

I let the service tech know last time i was in and a check showed nothing wrong..

It's a film of rust on the rotors. It should go away in the first 1/4 mile you drive. The noise won't hurt anything, it's just VERY irritating. My Cobalt is the worst car I have owned for doing this. I doubt there is anything you can do about it other than installing non GM rotors.

My 2.4 never sqeaked a day i had it (had it 4.5 months). now my 2.0 sqeaks (have had it for a week, all miles put on by me), it's the most annoying sound. It happens at different times, at different breaking hardness, and if i try to duplicate it, most times i cannot, it's just a random thing.
