Broken knuckle

I was driving home from work last night at about 3 am and I didn't see a pothole in the road. From the looks of it the knuckle cracked in half where it meets the strut assembly, the axle broke, the end links broke, the tie rod end broke, and I'm pretty sure the control arm is bent as well. I order all the parts to replace it everything listed above. Hopefully they come in soon. I'll upload pics in a bit, I'm waiting for the tow truck to get here to bring the car back to my sisters house.

If all that broke, you might want to check your wheel for roundness. Maybe the bearing/hub too.

Yea, I'll be checking all of that when I take it all apart when the parts come in this week. I'm figuring at least that front wheel is bent, hopefully not the back one though.

This is basically the issue anywhere in NYC. I was surprised that my tire didn't go flat though. I thought for sure I was going to get a flat or at least have bubbles in the sidewall but there's nothing on the outside of the tire (from what it looks like that what took the brunt of the hit too). My rim is all scuffed up and what not.

Well guys, I finally got around to uploading the pictures of the damage.

The strut somehow did a 180* turn and jumped in front of the brake line. You can see the stabilizer bar just popped apart at the connection to the strut as well.

The control arm also bent where the ball joint attaches.

As of right now everything is back together and my car is drive-able again, although im definitely going to need a new tire on that rim and an alignment.

Just posted some now. No more damage than what I figured needed to be replaced in the first post although i was surprised that the outer tie rod end was still good, everything else was replaced though (Axle, strut, control arm, knuckle, and sway bar link). The hub seems to be okay as well i am getting some humming on the highway at 65+ but it could also be due to needing an alignment, so I'm gonna go ahead and do that before i replace the hub and see if it solves the problem.

You have insurance right, was it considered a comprehensive claim such as hitting an animal. If so doing the work yourself should have saved you enough to upgrade the front knuckles while you were at it and but some rims that aren't so just... ewwww.

Wow, i probably should inspect my knuckles this week when i finally get my new brake caliper in thursday. Last month they were repaving a local highway around here and decided it would be cool to cut a 4" section of road deck out and just leave it that way for 1000 ft on the highway, me getting on the highway not realizing this road was not paved properly was cruising with the rest of the traffic at 80mph and im looking at the road in front of me with this curious look on my face like...what is that .... before you know it, i slam a 4" CURB in the middle of a major highway so hard that it turned my lights on and windshield wipers and locked my seat belt up. Frankily i was amazed my air bags didnt go off. Yet by some god damn miracle my wheels and tires were fine.

The control arms are up-gradable but the knuckles as far as i know are specific to the individual suspension setups on the FE1, FE3, and FE5 cars.

Yea the base model control arms are garbage, but would FE5 knuckles be any stronger than FE1? they should swap out easily if that's the case

That's the only upgrade I could think of.

So many bad pothole stories. You're lucky 05g5, they probably don't use salt up there right? Just destroys the city roads. and the cars.

We litter our streets in salt
Its actually disgusting seeing what it does to a car in a week of not being washed.
We have bad roads, and up until this summer we made canadian national newa fpr having one of the single worst roads in canads. Onion lake rd. on the north end of our city to the country

J guess those half assed fill jobs they do that we bitcb about actually do help. They like to shovel ashpalt everywhere theres a bump. Gets all over everything and doesnt last. But still

Ive also been to bigger citys, one this past summer in my car and i was glad j left my 17inch low pros at home becuase winnipeg roads are terrible

E/ wasnt nation, was across the province. About onion lake rd, my bad but still lol
