So I was taking off the antenna today to make a custom shorty.

That ****** was on there good! as i was putting all i got into taking it off, i heard snap and it went all crooked and flimsy.

Looked inside the trunk to see the antenna bracket bent and the antenna body popped out of its housing.

So after numerous swear words the antenna body is duct taped to the bracket in the trunk! Looks perfectly normal from the outside, and it is nice and sturdy. It will have to do until my new bracket comes from gmpartsdirect. It is only like 6.99 too. God I love that site.

Anybody have this happen to them before? and is it hard to get the antenna in the new bracket?

Shorty looks realllly good btw.

 

bump because I need a new bracket as well just not sure what piece I need to get and with what size threads for a typical shorty antenna?

 

Mine's held on by a zip tie and don't really care if it's fixed perfect.

 

This is how I fixed mine.

Just popped the rivits back in and zip tied it. It's solid.
