Can I flash/reset TCM?
Hey guys,
I have a 2007 Cobalt LS. Its not an ecotech engine. Its the base model. I have been having a lot of electrical issues that, after much research, seems to be the TCM. I have found one on eBay for $45 but they say it has to be reflashed by a dealer.
Is there a way to reflash or reset my own TCM? I'm afraid the dealer messed it up when he replaced the power steering pump for the recall... Are there certain places I should look for a short in the wires? Lastly, can anyone show me a picture of where the TCM is on these cars?
Thanks so much!

They are all ecotec engines.
You cannot re-program a TCM yourself.
It is the little computer next to the PCM, in front of the fuse box under the hood.
Check the connector seating in the main fuse box, if they removed it for some reason and didn't tighten it down properly, it will cause a variety of electrical issues.
What problems are you actually having?

oh gotcha, didnt realize it was still an ecotech.
Okay I think I know where it is then.
I'll check the connector seating
The problems were the gears shifting hard, the lights flashing on and off randomly, the gauges going crazy every now and then.
So if I were to reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a while it would not do me any good?
Thanks for all the help!
