So the car was fine for two months and these issues just came about a few weeks back.
Wouldn't I see oil in the oil catch can? isn't that the point of the oil catch can to prevent oil from going into the intake?

The oil being reffered to is the oil from the air filter itself...theres nothing between the filter and the maf

Just clean your maf. Lol. Oil from the k&n gets on your maf sometimes but don't let people tell you its garbage, an oiled filter is much better than a dryflow. I usually clean my maf everytime I recharge my air filter. If I don't I get some driving issues. But its too easy to do, I love my k&n

the oil catch can is to catch the oil that may be coming from the motor so it is way after your intake...it does not catch oil from filters

well all k&n filters have oil in them. sometimes that oil gets sucked into the intake and can get on the maf which will make it read wrong...thats why they said to check the maf after you put the intake on

Ok, so maybe a stupid question, but why the hell do they come with oil in them, and I didn't see any oil at all when putting it together.

I'll check it out this weekend, but you can understand I'm a little doubtful and quiet confused by this.

Mine didn't seem like it when I put it altogether, but I'll double check the sensor anyway.
Easy enough to do, will only take a sec. Just need light out.

yeah, they dont need much. over oiling is bad too, each filter specifies on the box/website proper amount i believe

DO NOT SPRAY CARB CLEANER ON YOUR MAF!!! Carb cleaner contains very harsh ****, not intended for electrical connections. They sell MAF specific spay that you can use and is safe to use on anything with an electrical connection.

The oil is red... or it should be, if not then its dirty. Get a cleaning kit from an auto store, remove your filter, spray it with the cleaner, let it dry and LIGHTLY oil it before reinstalling it... Make sure it's dry before you oil it. The oil is dyed red so you can see where you have applied it. K&Ns come pre oiled (usually over oiled) from the factory. I always clean and reoil them before I even install it for the first time.

No I have a rain gaurd also and the intake being right under the hood with the rain gaurd, it would be a slim chance.

I looked at the MAF. Looked pretty good to me. once covered in oil.
Was going to pick up some mah cleaner anyway.

if it was the evap purge valve more than likely youd get a CEL

if its jut a dirty throttle body only way to tell is to pull it off and look
