car just dies!!

My girlfriends SS supercharged just died on her the other day....she was in third gear just cruising when everything dies (all lights went out and needles fell and engine dies), but what is weird is that the car still rolled in 3rd gear with out the clutch even though it died. She applied the clutch and rolled it off the road and restarted and wallah it started up and ran fine since. Any idea as to what could have caused this?

What ive checked so far: 1. checked the grounds
2. checked gas - car had 1/2 tank of gas

Thats all so far.

Mine shut off the other day, but not a complete power failure. More like i turned the key off, but it wouldn't restart right away. My tech thinks maybe bad crank sensor.

It's been a known problem that if the keychains are heavy or there is a lot, the key insertion/ignition comes loose or whatever you wanna call it. It's not very strong.
