Car runs bad when low on fuel...
2006 SS S/C (only mod is K/N drop in filter... stock air box)
Ok, I had a problem with my fuel sender unit before Christmas. For some reason... when I was really low on fuel.. the "low fuel" warning did not come on. I went to the dealer and they fixed it.
Now, since then, when the car is low on fuel (less than 1/4)... when I'm WOT in 3rd or 4th, it kind of bogs down.!!! I mean.. it still boosts but 2 possibilities :
1-No Fuel
2-No Sparks
When it does that, if I put the clutch in.. it just stops....
Tonight when coming home from work, the needle was just under the 1/8 mark. I was unable to accelerate in 5th to get on the highway... It stopped 7-8 times on the HW... while I got to the gas station. When running on idle, everything is fine but the moment I was adding some load to the engine.. it just stopped running...
When I finally got to the gas station, I was able to put 39L of fuel. that's ~10gal. That means there was still 2-3 gallons left in the tank and it was barely able to run. Now it's running fine.
No CIL... everything else is fine...
Any Ideas?
I'm sick of my car... I really had too much problems since I had it.
1-From the dealership.. brand new : shifter boot's clamp is broken
2-2000mi : car's running way to rich... had to change the plugs.. was idling like a diesel
3-4000mi : finally convinced the dealer that it was running too rich.. reprogrammed the ECU... new plugs...
4-8000mi : I start hearing an exhaust leak.. go to the dealer.. they don't hear a thing
5-12000mi : sick of the exhaust leak... go to another dealer.. my downpipe was leaking... changed the downpipe
6-12500mi : metal noise from the engine... had to replace the heat shield from the downpipe
7-14000mi : cat melted.. because engine was running to rich.... that's was created the leak in the first place.
8-16000mi : my driver's outside door handle not working anymore...
9-18000mi : outside handle now fine... inside handle not working anymore
10-20000mi : both handle now working fine.. but unlocking the door does not work anymore. stuck inside the car...
11-20500: since work on the door.. driver's window hits something while going down. Changed some other part.. had to re-tint my glass.. it was ripped by the "thing" it hit.
12-21000: low fuel indicator does not come on.. they fix some other thing.. and now I have this $%/$%/%$ problem.
