That's called PERSONALIZATION. HAHAHA. That can be either a good thing or a bad thing.
I think all GM cars with leather seats do that. My dad's Monte Carlo is doing the same. All except Cadillacs.

We had a good discussion about the pros and cons of the regular Seats vs the Recaro seats here: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/stock-ss-seats-vs-recaro-ss-seats-4050/
The leather seats in the SS are of a lower quality then those in my 30th anniversary Trans Am. My Trans AM seats are thicker and not as soft. You cant see imprints in them after you get out.
And this is why I am getting Racaros in my SS. The stock leather seats will not last for longer then two years of regular driving IMO

I would be interested in hearing if anyone had any luck getting this warrantied. The passenger seat looked like crap after a week. Probably because it was the showroom car and got sat in 100 times.

has anyone tried anything. they need to be stiched more on the ass to keep the leather stretch to a minimum. any interior shop can do it, just ad 2 more rows of stiching. imo gm should pay for it

Best thing you can do it buy some leather conditioner (lotion prefferably) and use it periodically. The seats may still get some wrinkles and impressions, but at least the leather will last for a good long while

I would say the same... but the mechanic is actually a pretty cool guy... I had like 5 things wrong, the leather trim on the passenger door was off, my sun-roof was miss-aligned, the clicking in my clutch / trans and random ABS / Brake Lights...
He talked to me on the phone for about 20 minutes and went over everything with me.
Order come new parts for the trim, doubled checked everything under the car to make sure it was tight, re-aligned the sun-roof and checked the seal, did a PCM flash for the ABS and Brake lights. Lastly he had a manager come and instpect my seats... the manager was the one who said that its normal. Atleast the mecahnic was a nice guy.

P.S. Anyone have an offical word on how much the recaros are aftermarket (the ss ones) or were else we might be able to get them.

ya, i think it's just the thin cheap leather that chevy put in the ss seats. they have put much nicer leather in the more upscale GM offerings, but do you really expect that quality leather in a 22K car?

Hey at least Chevy used nice hides. Go look at previous generation Pontiacs (such as the Grand Prix) and see how low-grade it looks. As for the wrinkles, sorry to say, but that's totally common. Uness you're purchasing a Cadillac that uses a very high grade leather and French stitching, you're gonna get wrinkles.
For comparison, my moms 02 Accord and my my brothers 03 BMW 3-series both look like hell.

The leather is terrible, i have ebony seats in my ss, and they look like crap, i have a passenger in the front maybe 2-3 times a week.... the back seats look brand new...... When i get money, I may order a set of Katzkin covers. My buddy got them for his s10, and they still look brand new, a year later, and its his daily driver.... I dont know if the company makes them for the ss yet though, but they are really good about that stuff so im sure they would....

For you guys who want to preserve and protect your leather seats, the best thing you can do is get some quality covers for them. A couple of my friends have bought the "Type S" seat covers from Advance Auto, and for the price I've been very impressed. They are simulated leather, fit most seats very well, and look pretty good. The best part is that they come in Red/Black, Gray/Black, and Blue/Black, so they will match the SS interiors very well.
Here's a link showing what they look like, you can buy them online also:
