probably just mileage. and the heat in pheonix doesn't help with rubber but thats just my guess.

hey guys. i work at kal-tire and i see this problem all the time. as some have mentioned, weather conditions greatly factor in the life of the tires. very hot temps will, in fact, dry out the tire. cracking or "weathering" is common wear tires have been sitting for a long period of time "rotting", conditioner that your using is low quility "try miguars or something" or abuse to the tire by hard driving.

regardless, YOU NEED NEW TIRES. cracking leaves open spots to the ply and belt package on the tire and could seperate it. being a very dangerous situation. get new tires that are good quility. you get what you pay for basically

Weather and ozone will crack them.
But they should be designed to take it,If there is still tread left the dealer should pro-rate them ,But You are going to have to read through you tire warranty that you recived when you bought the car.

I have 27,000 on mine now and they have 3/32 of an inch of tread on them currently. Just ordered BFG KDW 2's. From what I have heard they are by far a better performing tire. We'll see I guess.

FYI, I'm at 21,000 and all 4 are stock tires still. I mean, 2 are almost completely bald and 2 are well, almost there too.

to coblasts
your right "they should" but then again a brand new cobalt with only 10k on her "SHOULD" be ok.

yet i have a extremely loose clutch pedal, a P0420 Catalyst efficiency low bank 1, my boost guage is going over 21 psi stock and when i pull hard in third gear, when my guage maxes out, my car bogs.

Everything "should be ok" but it aint. sometimes things just go wrong. hopefully for me, they fix it. for tires. they should warrenty them depending on the 32nds left on the tread.

i guess the saying "**** happens" just fly's right in

Sounds like your clutch pedal is loose and you have a clogged cat.

At about 8k miles i took my car in to the dealer cause the centers were worn so bad , they asked about tire pressure and i had ran them at the door sticker recommendations. They actually took 2 psi out of the fronts and said check back and see how they do lol. What a joke .

I had somewhere around 16000 miles on my set of tires. I took it to the dealer and they replaced them under warranty. Ive checked other placed for pirelli tires and their warranty on tread is about 60,000 miles. not sure why these tires wear so quickly. I drive a 2.4 w/ 17's and the psi is 35psi stated on the sticker. So im not sure that the 30 is correct, but i dont know.

im still on my stock rubber, 23.5k miles. I have a few 1/4 inch long cracks in my tires, i know I need new ones. Im making that investment soon pirelli neros

p.s. I run my tires at about 25-27psi cold. The wear is still completely in the center, and the sidewalls look great. Cept...there are cracks in the rubber now.

30psi is fine but when it starts getting colder out, the car likes to wander at 30psi so just bump it back upto 35psi and your good after that.
