As far as I know they reflash the cruise module... had it done twice on my 2.4.... haven't had the problem on the SS/SC thankfully.

The Cruise control stops working because the car is throwing a code. The code is from resting your foot on the clutch while driving. There are a million and a half threads on this topic. Why anyone would rest their foot on the clutch is beyond me, but it is apparently the thing to do nowdays.

you reset the code by doing that, so that makes sense to me.

mine quit working but it was because my brake switch kept coming loose, causing the cruise control module to think my brakes were being pressed when they werent, and disengaging the cruise everytime i engaged it.

Just took a 1200 mile road trip in my SS/SC and the cruise control worked great the whole time. Can't say the same for the sunroof. That switch was being very tempremental.

Funny... my 2.4 was an automatic... had the cruise problem recur twice.

Resting your foot on the clutch is crazy... and yes, it will deactivate the cruise.

My cruise quit working too; it seems like the problem is the switch on the steering wheel. I need to take it in....

Sometimes it just connections.

Had a friend take one in for non working cruise, worked fine for 4000 mi, then just quit. They found a wire that had become disconnected. Hooked it back up, good as new, well the way it was supposed to be new.

I noticed my cruise control stopped working when I went on a long trip. Came back home a couple days later and got a email from OnStar saying there was a problem with my transmission. Took the car to the dealer and all they did was re-aligned the clutch. Everything works great now.
