Unhappy Cruise Control Broken/shift knob

so about 2 weeks ago my cruise control just stopped working. the next day the cap on top of my shift knob snaps off. i'm like wtf?!?! i'm really big on using my cruise control because i have a tendency to get a lot of speeding tix (althouugh i have'nt had any in this car yet). so i call up the dealer and they say "sure, we'll just order those parts for you and put them in." i go there they don't have the parts. not that the shift knob matters that much, i mean i could just go w/ an after-market, but the reverse lock-out doesn't really bother me much. anyways, back to the cruise control, the tech guy there gives me some explanation stating that the reason that the cc isn't working is b/c there is some connection to the clutch not letting it. has anyone else heard of this problem or encountered it?

p.s. anyone else lose the cap ontheir shift knob, i think it may be due to cold weather?

Ive had two shifter knobs reinstalled and they didnt last either, the only way not to break it is by somehow shifting without touching the top of the knob (kinda hard to do). Ive asked my dealership to install a B&M short throw but they said NO. I told them I needed a shifter that didnt fall apart. They didnt care.

My CC just died a few nights ago. Takin' her to the dealer today. Did your dealer fix it? Give you any hassle?

GM now sells the Hurst shifter. Which I would believe that if they were to be selling it, that they would be able to install it and cover under warranty

If the clutch switch is making connection you will not be able to use the CC try lifting the clutch pedal from the back with your foot before you use the CC. This can happen by resting your foot on the clutch when not in use.

That being said my CC went out on me a few days ago and lifting the clutch with my foot did not work. So I unhooked the battery for a while (while I washed my car) to reset the PCM and voila it worked again. I suggest you try the same I think it only takes about 10 minutes with the negative terminal unhooked to reset the PCM.
