Cruise Control Button Gets Stuck

I have no idea how long this has been happening, as I don't make long drives too often. What I do know is that when I first got the car, it was working just fine. I went to Temple for a state-wide meet a year ago, and noticed that the button would depress, but with slight resistance. Now, it's to the point where the button gets stuck and won't depress at all. The funny thing is that sometimes it'll get stuck, and sometimes it works just fine. Any ideas?

seriously now...how inappropriate is this? I ask for a little help and I get comments like these...

Thanks for those just actually trying to help. If anything got in there, it's probably armor-all. Anyway to clean it out? I was thinking of a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

oh whipe your damn tears. it was only a joke. a q-tip and rubbing alcohol would be my first attempt. if not, WD-40 fixes everything.
