Maybe if you just get a longer wrench to put more torque on it. Mine was pretty tight as well, but it came right off with a little persuasion.

Plus, I'm assuming that you already purchased a shorty anyway, so you might as well get your money's worth, right?

Heat the base up with a hair dryer.....make sure it gets hot to the touch....then break it loose with the wrench.

Are you using a wrench to get it off or are you trying to do it with your fingers? Theres two flat spots at the bottom so you can use a wrench. It really shouldnt be that hard to do. I take antennas off all the time at work i'm a bodyman. If you strip it use a small pipe wrench or visegrips. But i've never stripped an antenna and i've taken off hundreds.

And you will lose all reception, no antenna= no radio

Please do not "cut off" your antenna. It simply screws off. Get some help if you are having trouble.

Take it to a bodyshop. If they charge you then they are ******** but hey, you can't have everything in life i guess.

Are you wanting to replace it with a shorty or what?

bought a shorty antenna(didnt fit BTW)came right off with my fingers.
get a good pair of ViseGrips and you should be good... and are you getting it at the bottom of the Antenna itself or on the part thats attatched to the car? Dumb question I know but needs to be asked.

im having the same problem he is having, mine WILL NOT come off, the base inside the trunk just spins with it, its on that tight, ive tried everything, wd 40, heat, fingers, wrench, everything, now its just crooked and everytime i look at it i get pissed off. I took it to GM and they said they wouldnt take it off because for some reason sometimes they just dont come off and if you snap it inside the trunk, you have to replace the entire thing, and its $80
