Died at WOT and wont start now
Breakdown:
Was pulling a few codes before this happened along with having long starts. Besides that it was running fine. Have done a good few wot pulls before this happened on my fresh clutch.
P0017 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor B)
P0340 camshaft position sensor malfunction
P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Going for a wot pull she died on me. Coasted to a stop and began diagnosis. Crank and crank and sometimes would start for a split second, usually if i was flooring the gas.
Turns out my ign fuse blew, likely because my 3 grounds (chassis to engine, starter and main harness) bolt was loose. Promptly tightened it and replaced fuse. Now was getting a P0230 code.
P0230 Chevrolet - Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit
Possible causes
- Faulty Fuel Pump Relay
- Fuel Pump Relay harness is open or shorted
- Fuel Pump Relay circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Switched the relay with another one and code went away.
Got it towed home in the end and decided to replace the crank position sensor. The cam sensor was bad because one of the 3 pins was pushed in wrong; adjusted that and havent gotten that code back.
After replacing the crank sensor still the same deal, fuel pump circuit code came up again while cranking. Wierd because i can crack the fuel rail and spray.
I should be getting spark since it does halfway start here and there for a split second then shuts right back off.
Only other thoughts: grounds. There is a strap ground going from the head thats supposed to go to the trans bolt near the T.O.B. bleeder and instead its bolted at the head. It was like this for a whole year no issues and didnt touch it recently.
And the other grounds possibly? Again the ground was supposed to be on the trans bolt near the bleeder/ oil cooler, but instead i put it down at the trans bolt by the oil filter. I even tried a new ground tonight at the oil cooler for those 3 afformentioned grounds.

Could going from 7300 rpms to 0 really quick and possibly riding it that fast (110 mph) in gear with the engine off blow anything? Because during that time there was probably no water pump action.... omg
We are missing the big picture here when it comes to diagnosing the issue. Grab a good scan tool and as you crank over the engine check for pulses from the Crankshaft position sensor and your camshaft position sensor. I promise you that one of them does not work and is not sending the pulse to your pcm for a spark!
If ur in gear the crank is still turning so the water pump would be working as well. Everything will be moving still just with no power. Wouldn't do anything

Good to know guys, thanks. Any ideas? Omiotek may swing by with a scanner so if anyone has an idea of what we can check ill put it on the list! He knows this stuff better than i do haha.
I bought a refurb dell e6410 off woot last year for 260 shipped
1st gen i5 (560 i believe) 2 core/4 thread 2.66/3.2ghz
Win7 pro
4gb ram
forgot what size HDD, but 7200rpm
backlit keyboard
Extended battery
and I want to say its 1440x900 resolution, which was the upgraded screen at the time.
I threw a 120gb samsung SSD in it for 90 bucks, and it has been the best laptop i have ever had (ive had "top of the line" computers forever). all for 350 bucks.
plus the refurb came with a "refurb" licence, but the original product key was still active, so I used it on my othercomputer -__-
