Distortion in speakers
Distortion in speakers
at 1st i thought it was me. then i thought it was my cd player and the music. but the more i hear it the more i started hearing distortions in my drivers side speaker. has anybody else had this happen? wondering if something could have got knocked loose with me slamming my door. is it warranty time?
i also have to ask, if i take it in for a look, what does the dealership look for. i dont want to hear " we cant find anything the matter" bit that they practice.
thanks guys!

I have the same problem. Showed to dealer quick and they said it was something in the door and not the speaker itself. I'm thinking about taking the door apart myself and trying to find the rattle rather than having to hear "we couldn't get it to make the noise."
The dealer I went to has a cd that will show up any problems with the sound system speakers. They used it on my sound system to see if the water in the trunk screwed up the speakers. I guess it has a full range of tones.
I have the same problem on my 2006 cobalt. Front driver door speaker sounds like crap. So first I replaced the speaker, sounded ok for a couple of days then started distorting like crazy. So now I figured its the stock radio. I went and bought the Sony BT2500 for the bluetooth. As I was installing it I heard the driver speaker distorting again. Now im pissed. Turns out, the original cable harness wiring right at the radio connector was a bad connection to that speaker. All fixed now. Hope this helps.
I took the door apart yesterday. Pulled the speaker out and it sounded fine by itself. I believe the problem was with the plastic sheet between the inner door and the door panel. The sheet was fluttering with the bass of the speaker so I secured the plastic to the door frame in a couple of places using zip ties. No more problem. Warning: be careful if you take the door apart with the Pioneer tweeters. There is a metal clip attaching the tweeter panel to the window frame and two plastic clips holding it to the door panel. The plastic tabs broke when I pulled on the tweeter panel. If anyone takes the door apart just pull the top of the panel releasing the metal clip and leave the rest attached to the door panel, removing it all as one piece.
i have the same problem, in the drivers side door.. ive already had ALL the speakers replaced by warranty, and it still comes back at times.. its weird though, somedays its distorted and other days its PERFECTLY fine, and it seems whenever i take it to the dealership, it works fine, its BS!
