DLC no power - Tech2 will not turn on
Hi,
I'm a truck guy but I'm trying to help my friend that has had his 06 cobalt ss for about 6 months now. His check engine light lit up over the weekend then went out. I told him to bring it by and I could scan it for history codes at least if the light wasn't currently on.
His data link connector has no power. And the tech2 scan tool will not turn on. I've looked through the fuses and they all check out. Even swapped fuses around the fuse box to see if something would stop working somewhere but it doesn't seem to be a fuse. All accessories are working. No aftermarket alarm or stereo so no one has been under the dash since it came from the factory.
He bought the alldata diy subscription and I'm also looking through those wiring diagrams but can't find a diagram in it for the DLC connector just which systems go to which pin on the connector. I need to find out where the power comes from to the DLC connector. I'm hoping to avoid taking down the harness to trace the wire.
He can't get an appointment at the dealer till Nov. 2nd so I want to try and help him get it figured out sooner. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Often the fuse under the hood needs to be reset. The fuse you want to pull and reset is on the passenger side, towards the front. It'll be the third or fourth one from the front (the small ones).

Thanks for the schematic and the quick response. I guess I must have been overlooking this diagram when I was browsing through his alldata diy diagrams. I'll check the lighter fuse underhood and also the first couple fuses in the front of the fuse box in the passenger side of the console. If that doesn't do it then I'll let him keep his dealer appointment on Nov 2nd and let them chase it.
I did end up jumper wiring a hot lead from the underhood fuse box to the connector just so I could get the scan tool powered and check his history codes. Ended up having a random misfire code. I cleared it and he drove around today without seeing anything. Autocross is this Sunday so I'll pull the plugs this weekend and see what they look like but if nothing comes back then I'll just chalk it up to some bad gas.
