door sag?
door sag?
Hey guys..just wondering if anyone has had this problem..since about a month after i got my car i noticed my door squeaked when opening and closing..thought it was just the hinge..turns out my door is hitting my fender at the bottom and has messed up the paint on the edge..i havent made an appointment to get it into the dealer yet..but im wondering if this is a problem or just me..there's no reason for it to be sagging..ive never done anything to it..i dont ever pull myself out or anything like that..it just sags. ive also got the front end popping problem. and my cars already been in at 1500 miles for clutch problems. and 2 times for sunroof leaking and switch bein broken. there's some other issues ive had also..not to mention my parents 06 silverado and 06 HHR that both have the front end popping. Is this just what GM has come to?
I had the same exact problem last year. Make sure when you take it in, there is no snow on it. My dealer claimed that snow packed in the fender well and caused the problem. They fixed it under warranty, but said they could never fix it under warranty again. The truth is, it started happening as soon as it got cold, but way before the car had ever seen snow.
mine isnt the bottom of the doors like in that thread you speak of..mine is the door contacting my fender and chipping paint off the edges of each... still need to get it in for that and the front end clunk
so its in the shop..the clunk in the front was some kind of shaft..replaced..took an extra day to adjust my steering wheel..next up is all my paint stuff and the door sag..they are going to re adjust the door, touch up the messed up paint on the edges and repaint my side skirt that had paint chipping off..in the mean time im rollin a loaded 07 yukon rental
Does the door open and close properly? If it does, I would guess the fender needs to be adjusted, not the door. I have noticed the fender to door gap at the bottom is too tight on a lot of Cobalts (mine included). I have not seen a problem with doors sagging or rubbing on the fenders, but I can see how it could happen (I work at a GM body shop, So I get to see problems like this). If it is a sagging door or a misaligned fender it should not be a big problem for a dealer to correct.
