Emissions...

So I'm trying to pass emissions, But I'm failing due to the evap system and the 02 sensor. I know that the 02 sensor is never going to pass so I'm not worried about that. However I want to get the evap to pass. I already tried putting a new gas cap on it and that did not seem to do anything... So I called ADEQ (Arizona Department of Environmental Quality) to get the drive cycle from them and it's absolutely ridiculous and there's no way I can do that. So what have you guys done to get your cars to pass emissions before or anyone who's had this issue with the evap system.

Here's the drive cycle of ridiculousness:

There should be a dtc set, could be a simple fuse for the emissions check the emissions fuse under the hood

Dude what up!? Havn't seen you in a while...

So you're in LA all the sudden?

Would that fuse set them all though? Guess I don't understand what good that would do...

That is a crazy drive cycle, wow. The instructions I was given were a lot simpler, but still didn't work for our test up here. I followed the instructions, and drove 3 times longer than was required, and the sensors were still not ready. This new testing method is screwing a lot of people. Good luck.

If only two things are holding you from passing it might be easier to get the O2 sensor passed. You can have one readiness code not set and still pass emissions on al cars after 2004 I believe.

evap is the hardest one to complete. I would just fix the O2.

As far as i know, in most states (except commifornia) you can pass with 1 monitor not ready on any car later then 2001. Heated o2 sensor will completely after a 5 minute cruise of 55mph or greater (has to be continuous). That's all it took for my car.

Don't you have an SS? That procedure is for a base model. There may be differences.

Sorry, I know this is off topic and sounds really dumb but does anyone know if a catted MPX downpipe will be able to pass CA or NY smog test? What if you have a trifecta tune? Would you have to flash it over to stock? Thanks in advance and sorry if it seems like I'm trying to steal your thread.

No CAT though, Could always throw the stocker on there, but it still wouldnt let me pass since 'the OBD does not have enough data on it' is what they told me at the emissions testing place. So it was actually a rejection and not a fail. Which is why I have to go through the drive cycle that they gave me. POO So pretty much I have no other option then doing the stupid drive cycle. I know all the others are good since I'm using the Torque app and it tells you which ones I'm not failing. SO once it has enough data on it then I will be good to go and I'm sure my EVAP will be good once I do the whole routine.

Yeah heated 02 sensor is already good to go.

Wait so are you using a defouler for the O2 sensor? Cause if not it'll throw a P0420 and you'll fail for that.

They rejected you cause your car just isn't ready. Throw the stock pipe back in and drive the car for like 2 days the O2 sensors will be ready get inspected and swap it back out.

DP will not pass in cali, don't know about ny. Tune will not affect smog.

No, it's just set in the tune to not appear at all... Yeah I think I will still have to go through the drive cycle though. But I think I may have found another way after talking to a few people who just don't have to do emissions...
