Engine Drop-In Help!!

I have the complete longblock with transmission and engine accessories already on the engine, the only thing left is the wiring harness. If anyone has done this before I could use a couple pointers, or at least something to get me headed in the right direction. Should I install the engin first then try to wire it or wire it then drop it in the car? Thanks.

We just did this and we put the engine trans in then you have an idea where abouts each wire goes. I like to hold on to a wire and not let go until it's plugged in. There are a couple hidden ones but you have a good range of where it could be

You can get the ecotec build book, they have a step by step motor removal and installation in it.... That's the best I can offer

Thanks for the quick reply!
Any really tough ones to get at that I should be aware of that I might miss?
Where did you start? Back of the engine? With the coil packs?

I always dropped the motor in first and connected the plugs afterwards, most if not all plugs will go in one location, and each will be long enough to reach its designated plug so not a lot of guess work is involved

throttlebody and coil pack harness have the same connector. be careful with those.
Also SCIP sensor and baro sensor are same connector and both reach to eachother.

But I found it easiest to just put the harness on the engine/trans while it's out of the car...

Just finished pulling the 2.2 motor out of my wifes car this morning (like at 1am) We marked every connector we pulled off with masking tape and a written description of where it goes so we could reconnect them easier. I plan to rewire after the motor is bolted in place. Hope it helps, getting that motor out was a pain.
