Fan Clicking

I've searched, is there a remedy or fix for this?

It's not a big deal but drives me nuts.

Thanks,

Joel

As in the HVAC blower fan? It drives me nuts. I think I saw threads on this before, and I think that there's no work around, unless im mistaken

Thats the one.

Dang. If nobody chimes in with a cure I might just take it apart and see what I can do.

The thing about the cobalt blower motors(fan) is that I believe that they actually need to be cut out to come come completely out. Also If i remember right when i called the dealer about it they said it would cost about 200$ for the part alone to get it fixed.

check out the diagrams there. let me know what comes of this.

Just one of the many noises the Cobalt makes, so like all ready said. Crank the tunes to drown out the noise

Sorry about the wrong section, I completely passed over that one I guess.

My god that looks like a PITA. If it fixes it I'll try it though, I'll do it when I get back from work in a couple days and let you all know how it goes. Maybe see if I can come up with some sort of solution that is less labour intensive. (Besides cranking the tunes )

How long would the work be warrantied for (cause it seems to be a problem that will happen again).

If it's while its slowing down, it may just be the inertia of the fan spinning the fan motor as it comes to a stop. I've had electric motors in R/C do the same thing while being driven rather than doing the driving.

Fans in the Cobalts click alot. Some are more noisey than others.

I've replaced the a/c blower in my last Cobalt 3 times and never completely got rid of the noise. This kind of repair falls under the 3 year /36k warranty. After that? Its 12/12 if you choose to pay the dealer for the work.

Maybe haha, mine was in a wreck before I got it too.

I still have not had time to do it, been working to much. I'm for sure going to try the silicone lube, but like the guy above me said where did you spray it? On the bearing?

I replaced mine last year. That blower motor for lack of better words..... blows. They all do. It makes the cutting easier if you take a small kitchen knife with a wooden handle and grind it down smalller and nice and sharp. Take a blow torch and get it glowing cherry and it makes cutting the plastic housing easy. Re-installing was easy, and I used some silicon to seal it so the car smelled for a couple days but mines been quiet ever since. Just replace it because any of the "quick" fixes just don't work.

Where did you find the blower motor and how much did it cost?

I get my parts from a friend of mine who works for a chevy dealership because he gets them at cost most of the time but I have gotten plenty of parts from gmpartsdirect, and from rock auto. Gmpartsdirect is like 108 and Rock is like 125 or something like that. I think I paid 120 when I did mine.
