Unhappy fans come on too late.

a couple months ago my car always stayed below 200F even after pulls, but now its 200 and up at idle.. after checking everything i noticed the fans come on late, and i didnt want to make a new thread cuz ppl seem to get mad for some reason, even when its to ask for help..but i have to ask in case someone here had the same problem... i have searched on other forums and many cars have had the same problem, but EVERYONE stops posting after they seem to have found a solution....

anyways, my cooling fans use to come on at 190F something, now at 223F, and no this is not the way its suppose to be.... when cooling fans come on temp goes down to 196 or so... when AC is on the car stays at normal temp cuz fans come on. replaced relays and temp sensor, still nothing. ANY help will be appreciated!

It IS normal. fans come on at 220ish. Its in the manual i believe. Our motors run hot anyways. there was something wrong if they were kicking on at 190 and you didnt change that in your tune.

lol thermostat. also.. is it normal for our cars to go up in temperature after you turn off the car and turn it back on after a few mins. ex. u pull up to a gas station (189F) turn off the car... after pumping gas, u get inthe car, turn it back on and the temp is 196F.. is this normal?

Its probably heat soaking...so yes normal

Stock tune is 220* for fans. Get a tune and set fans to 100% at 200* (this is what i did) I never see over 200* unless im beating on it on a hot day.

Yup.

If you're tuned, the fan temps can be altered too.

Just remember: Radiators are heat exchangers that work by shedding heat into the air that passes through them. If the car isn't moving, then that means no airflow. No airflow means no efficient way to get rid of the heat, and the temps will tend to rise.

Dashhawk enables you to manually turn the fans on and or keep them on

The Dashhawk is a multifunction gauge/tool that plugs into the car.

does dashdaq let you change fan turn on points too? (assuming you must know since you have one)

No idea. I don't have one. I just know general info about them since it's one of only a handful of popular scan guages (Dashdaq, Dashhawk, PLX, and Interceptor), and a customer of mine in another town has one that I've briefly been able to see and play with. I have a Dashdaq, which is completely different.

That being said, I could be wrong, but I do not believe that you can change the fan points, as that is something programmed into the ECU that typically requires reflashing with a more sophisticated tuning device.

this is what ive found, i want something like this, but this product is for trucks

Hypertech - Adjust Cooling Fan On/Off Temperatures

With the Hypertech Power Programmer, you can electronically adjust the “on/off” temperatures of your vehicle’s electric cooling fans. When used with a Hypertech PowerStat, low-temperature thermostat, this produces a cooler, denser intake charge that allows the engine to make more power. A cooler engine is also less likely to detonate under heavy loads. That means better performance for you and longer life for your engine.

You don't want those types of tuners/programmers. Get a custom tune

Find someone with HP tuners in your area.

Price depends on tuner. HP tuners credits will run you $100 plus whatever the tuner charges.

i have found that changing the fans to heat, and having them blow out the feet turns the fans on for some reason ha. usually when im sitting for awhile ill turn the heat to my feet and put the speed to 1 and idle temp stays around 189

Feet only setting, Defrost and feet, and defrost all turn on the A/C compressor (which turns the fans on to move air through the condenser). I believe 40 or 45* is when the compressor doesnt turn on due to cold temp.
