http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk2NDM8QAY0 i am the proud owner of this **** for over a year since it started..pretty much since i bought the car but no one acknowledged there was a problem..some of you already know all the crap i'v ebeen through..have adealer now that said since i live so close that i should just come in when its happening cause they couldn't get it to do it(it does it by itself just idleing you can't force it to do it..its like this ALL DAY LONG pretty much)

That is the same noise that mine made when the timing chain tensioner collapsed.

BUMP....and yea im figureing thats what it is but everytim ei take it in it doesn't do it so i just gotta go in when its doing it on the spot...lucky live close

I believe that there is a TSB about the timing chain actually if you can dig it up.

already had it i showed it to the last ppl adn they didn't even care..dunno how the new ones would react

i have but they just gonna look at it when i come in while its doing it cause i live close..but hasn't been doing it very consistantly lately so i just gotta wait

Mine JUST started doing that in the past week.

At first I thought it was coming from the driver side of the motor, under the plug cover.

I never thought about moving around to listen for where it comes from until this video cause mine sounds exactly the same.

Also, does it go away when the engine warms up?

Timing tensioner much? Take the to another dealer if you current one doesnt want to fix it, that will grenade yourvalve train when it lets loose

Yeah that's not the pulley spinning funny...it's engine related.

Well its not my tensioner as my car was built prior to the dates on the TSB.

It also comes directly from the tranny side.

I'm stumped.

Not sure if you guys found this thread or not, but sounds like a pretty serious problem. Mine has only done it once, but I'm debating just taking it to the dealer on the off chance that they just fix it w/out being able to recreate the problem. I doubt it though. Anyway, good luck!

edit: On a side note, I don't fully understand how once started, this problem could stop? I mean how can the tensioner just magically regain tension? Anyone?

i had the same problem but it went oway it happen when i race a mustang i took off wrong after the race i pulled off to the side turn the car off and back on and the sound died off

so update on this..it FINALLY did the noise at the dealer when i went to go pick it up so they called up gm they instantly said replace the timing chain you fools they obviously didn't say you fools but after almost a year and like 6 motnhs of knowing it was something with the timing chain and telling them to check it only now are they actually doing something other than injector bullcrap hurray

every dealer i've taken mine to with the same exact problem keeps acting like it's nothing.

keep going in and bug the **** outta them until they hear the noise..i used to be going in once every week or 2 weeks..then i stopped doing it and kept going every month or 2
