Flex pipe crack...need some opinions!
So i have had an exhaust leak for a little while and couldn't find it. yesterday it got worse so i decided to take it to a shop to get it looked at. well they found it in the flex pipe coming off the exhaust manifold. and i don't know what they did but it is a HELL of a lot louder now! it sounds like a damn tractor...
so what are the options... my exhaust is completely stock right now and would like to go aftermarket header and down pipe, but what can i get that could be welded onto my stock cat...and another thing is im kinda low on cash right now so i don't have too much to spend!
and any and all other ideas are welcome!

You can't weld the flex pipe cause.... well it flexes! The best thing you could do is see if you can score a used one. In fact I may have an old DP from a Cavi. lying around if you want it its yours.

good point! what about going with a DP with a high flow cat that bolts onto stock...
ok new idea...what if i get a shop to make me a custom DP and weld it onto my cat....would that work?

It's louder because they reached in and pulled some of the flex out to show the hole...It's a common problem for the 2.0's and it's really just bunk design on gm's part.

I'm almost positive that the emissions equipment is warranted for 8 years by Federal Law... However that would/should only cover the catalytic converter not the rest of the exhaust... Take it to an exhaust shop and they should be able to weld in a new flex pipe for a reasonable price.

bshoe4241....i have an s/c downpipe i'd sell ya for 50$ and you aint far from me, i can meet you somewhere an give it to you, my flex pipe broke around december and they fixed it with a better flex pipe under warranty and its good to go...leme know
then you can take your broken downpipe and send the cat converter to zzp for a 50$ store credit

The same thing happened to my 2.4L SS and I was out warranty, and they replaced it. Are you throwing a CEL? Take it to the dealer and see if they will cover it. They covered mine.
oops nvm, didnt read page 2.
