gas pedal quits working???????????? help!
I have a 05 Colbalt and the gas pedal stops working sometimes, After a stop, I take off then about 20mph the gas pedal stops responding, I can press it down, floor it and it doesn't rev up, nothing and then it starts working again after a few seconds. I took it to the dealer and the had it for 3 days and they can't fugure out why it does it. No lights come on when this happends and no codes showed up either. It doesn't do it all the time. I'm thinking it might be in the pedal, losing power or something like that... Any ideas????? Thanks for reading this, any suggestions would be great...
If it were the fuel pump, the engine would sputter or die.
OP, did the dealer check the TPS? My wife had a grand am that had similar issues when the TPS went bad.
Check for loose wires around the throttle body / peddle assembly as well.

Where is the TPS? Is it on the gas pedal or is it on the side of the TB?
Tps is part of the gas pedal its called a petiometer... Its basicslly a basball diamond that has a needle in it that reads voltage/ resistance and tells the.ecm where it needs to be at or where the throttle is st on cabled systems for the t.b
I have a similar issue, but i get pedal position codes and TB codes, I've replaced both and no help yet. I thought I had it wen I put the old TB back on but it started acting up again. Let us know if you figure it out, maybe it'll help me too
I figured it was something with the wiring but i cannot fond a grounded wiree for the life of me. the next nice day out im going to take all the loom off and replace it, hopefully I'll find the problem then. On a side note, I noticed when it rains out, my car runs fine and does not go into limp mode. Also, the other day I had the AC on while I was driving and when I turned it off, the car went into limp mode. I turned the AC back on and cleared the codes, problem gone and running normal again. Turn AC off again, and limp mode again. IDK if its the wiring or something with the idle now becuase the idle goes up when the AC is turned on and that seems to be the only time it will run normal.
Checked all fuses already, none are blown, I installed the stereo using the right adapters and wrapped everyting up in electrical tape when I was done. Its driving me nuts, I thought I had it fixed a few times but after I turn the car off and restart it, it does it again. I only found out about the ac because i had it on driving to work one day and when i was sitting I turned it off and that was the result I got, turned it back on and cleared the codes, and it ran normal. weird if you ask me. Should I try and get another throttlebody maybe? I bought it used but was told there were no issues with it when it was taken off of the car (guy put a sc in his 2.2)

2 days ago I replaced the gas pedal assembly that I got off Ebay for $20.00 shipped, new take off part, it looked like brand new... I also took off the throttle body and clean it good...so far so good... I hope this is the end of my problems...I have my fingers crossed!
There are 2 tps one is on throttle body the other is in the pedal my car is doing the same thing I thought it was a ground or the gas pedal cause when I left off and push it it works again.. and I swapped out my gas pedal recently so it may be faulty
You necro'd a thread from 2011, I doubt the OP or any of the other posters are even active on the site. I would recommend starting a new thread and carefully describing the problem, and what you've done to try to fix the problem. It's more likely someone would be able to help, but the forum is pretty slow in general.
