Gauges Bottom Out & Power Steering Dead...
http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q...t=20080406.flv
When it does this, the power steering turns off too... and it always tells me I have low fuel... even though I have a full tank. Which leads me to believe it is an ECU problem.
It did this the entire time I had the car on. I turned the car off... checked all fuses and PCM/ECU connections... then started it up 15 minutes later and it ran fine. So I went to a store. Car off... went in. Came out... started it up... and it did that gauge **** again!
Turn it off & restart it 3 times and finally it was fine. Blah Blah Blah. Its pissing me off. I go to work, come home... and its doing the gauge **** again, as soon as I pulled into the driveway. **** that car.
It did this to me for like 5 days in December, I scheduled a service for the next week... and it stopped doing it the day I scheduled it.
And NOW it is doing it again.
I'm at 50k miles... so I only have the Powertrain Warranty left. I NEED someone to help me figure this out... I can't afford for the stealership to fix it. I checked almost all the fuses... and they all looked fine.
What I don't get, is that it is SOOO tempremental. It doesn't start doing it after a bump... it doesn't start doing it at certain MPH, RPM, or Temps. It just starts out of the middle of no where.
ACTUALLY, it did start this morning as I turned into my driveway... but what I don't get, is that if it is from turning... why didn't it do it the 15 other times I turned on my way home?

And it sucks that I am no longer under warranty!
Tell me about it. This bitch is hard to turn at a stop with no power steering! Not to mention it "Ding Ding Ding's" like every 5 ****** seconds!
Yes... I would have to agree. I would tear my Steering Column apart... but I don't know what to look for, and I know I'd never get it to go back together the way it came apart! Haha.

Also, if a fuse was blown... don't you think that this would CONSTANTLY happen? Maybe not. I'll check them again when I wake up (I work nights).
But I am going to PM P7X... sweet... doesn't look like he gets on much... at all.
Bump!!!
BUMP! Someone has said that it is the Body Control Module...
Body control module, cobalt, w/keyless entry for a 2005: Retail = $350.00 GMPartsDirect = $182.00

Honestly, that's odd. Closest I have come has been the gauges reseting at highway speeds by zeroing out and then going back to the appropriate settings, no power steering or low fuel issues, though. I haven't experienced this.
Isn't that the security light turned on down by the tach?
I would guess that it's the passkey module. Do you keep heavy things on your keychain? Do you ever hit the steering column or keys w/ your knee while driving?

I wouldn't think it would be the passkey either, mainly because PassKey's main function is to shut off the fuel so you can't steal the car... and that ain't happening.
I've hit my keys with my knees before yes. But I've never done it... and then this happen. And no... my keychain is light!

my car is doing the same stuff, but i lose all boost when it happens and it kicks power steering warning, esc warning as well as the lil lock security warning thing and since it started happening the air bag light has come on and stayed on. I used to kick a p101 code for the intake that i put on and that wasnt really anything cause id clear it and it would go back to boosting 20-25psi(i have the gm stage 1 kit) but now when all codes are cleared im very lucky to see it peak to 15. it keps kicking codes for missfires on every cylinder, and a check engine code RXE which i cannot find any info on and a ROR code as well as an underboost code and a code that says something like network missciommunication. my car is acting all kinds of squirrely. only mods i have done was an intake and intercooler and piping with bov, which was faulty so i just turned it all the way shut so no more boost leak there. im so frustrated with my car right now. it went from running great to abosulte ****. hell a 2.4 cavalier passed me the other day and i hung my head in shame. all this seemed to start when it started getting hot out, could the ecm be getting hot and messing up maybe? the previous owner had installed a fhood liner on the car.

codes thrown are as follows:
P0101 mass air flow circuit range/ Performance problem
P0106 Manifold absolute pressure /barometric pressure circuit range/ performance problem
P0299 Fuel and air metering/ Turbocharger/ supercharger "A" underboost condition
P3331 unknown just says powertrain nothin on web about it.
P3400 Cylinder deactivation system bank 1
P0302 Cylinder 2 missfire. ( at different times ive thrown codes fr each of the cylinders missfiring)
U0073 network control module communication bus "A" off
RXE no info on this one nothing on web
ROR no info on this one nothing on web
those are pretty much all the codes ive ever thrown. the p0101 is very common due to my CAI and i usually just reset it and its all fine, but since it got hot it makes no diff. the RXE and ROR started when it got hot out and occur everytime i drive as well as the missfires and every other code.
Sounds like this problem
