Guys: be careful with any CAI for 2.0SS
Guys: be careful with any CAI for 2.0SS
well i have the aem cai for my car, its been running for 6-7 months no problems, however it has been pouring rain the past 2 days, and yesterday my car totally crapped out, the car was sputtering and coming to a near stall out at idle, it was totally undriveable, so i took it to the delaership, they called me back saying it was my aem cai, it was completely soaked and my maf was wet, they dried the maf and filter and reset the code, after that it has been running fine, but they warned me to put the stock air box on because if any permanent damage happened to the maf or engine, i would not be covered, so i might be returning it to stock....
Look in the splash guard, there are several gaps that are non-essential to air flow, tape them off. I did that with mine, turns out those let a LOT of water in, cause I haven't had any issues since.

You won't have that problem.
Here is a link to those if you want one.

This has also happened to SS/Sc's w/stock air boxes. Just had one 2weeks ago. There is also a Bulletin for water found on air filter. The stock boxes snorkel is set at such a position, water can snake around between the headlamp and hood and run into the box.
Everyone just needs to look out for puddles and hope for the best.

LOL... yeah....
but seriously... just drive slowly in the rain... or invest in a hydro-shield... or one of those bypass valve things... might save ya' in the long run.
Oh... and if you're going back to stock... would you be interested in selling the CAI?

on my old car that had a cai when i was forced to go through a puddle i would get some momentum put it in nuteral and turn the car off and coast through the puddle, after i was clear of the puddle i would restart the car or pop the clutch and continue on my, this made it so i never had to worry about water in my intake as well as not inconviencing the drivers behind me.....never had any problems..

I found 3 sizes, but am unsure what size I need.

There is the link I found them at, the same place I ordered my AEM filter from.
