Hard Starting
Hard Starting
Lately my engine requires alot more cranking time to start when left off for a few hours. Ive never actualy TIMED the cracking required to start but it seems to be along the lines of 10 - 15 seconds of cranking.
I replaced my plugs and set the new gap to 0.035" (Old was 0.040") I also ran compression checks all good. My lowest was #1 at 196 my highest was #4 at about 218. My old ones were always gaped at 0.040" and it started no problem before. Replaceing the plugs took care of a few other problems, but the engine still doesnt seem to want to wake up in the morning to go to work, or in the evening to come home from work without extra pursuation.
Ideas?

keep the key on acc. for a few seconds and let the fuel pump prime the system. maybe its just your lines aren't keeping pressure on the rail very well after shutting off
Are you getting a cloud of smoke from the exhaust when it starts. Or your oil smell like gas before you start it,could have a leaky injector bleeding off the rail pressure.
But also like the other guy says ,your fuel pump check valve could be lettting gas flow back in the tank?
Turn the key on but dont start it and listen for the fuel pump to start priming and stop when it gets to pressure.

Okay,
I turned the key on and listened to the prime pump. It ran for about 5 - 6 seconds or so, sounded normal, But by the time the Interceptors booted up the pressure was down to arround 35psi
It took about 3 seconds for the pressure to go from 30.0 down to 29.0 How fast should
the pressure bleed off?
Also, I have no idea bout exhaust smoke, as I cant watch my tail pipe, push my clutch and turn the key all at once.

Solution: Found a leak in the fuel lines near the fuel tank. Dripping gas on the ground. Not Good.
