heat exchanger pump bad?
i was washin my car yesterday and did a lil cleanin under the hood and i noticed my supercharger was hot like really hot, never noticed it that bad before... how can i see if it is bad and if it is, is it ok to drive?
put a screwdriver in the neck when the cars running if it pulls then ur good and the coolant doesnt cool the sc just the incoming air below the sc in the intake manifold. its normal for the sc to be really hot thats why its nickname is heaton
kinda confused on what u jus said there? like if u feel the coolant pushin on the screw driver its flowing?
If you see no coolant movement when looking into the coolant neck, then yes you need to change the pump before you drive it. The hardest thing about replacing the pump is the glue that GM used to secure the hoses on with. It’s only a small spot on each hose, so brake that loose nicely so that you can reuse the same hoses.
as long as you havent been beating on it you should be ok for just normal driveing just be very easy on it be the air going into the engine will be really hot. get it changed out asap tho
My pump has to have been out for awhile now. My coolant temps always sky rocket when i sit at red lights and drive thru. I mean temps from 200-219. Pumps are on back order and this is my daily driver. What am i looking at damage wise cuz of the pump failure
thats your engine coolant, not your coolant for the heat exchanger and the intercooler pump. those are normal temps when your sitting there for a while. next time that happens flip on the a/ real quick, the fan will kick on and cool it down.

Well i feel dumb now lol but i did do the filler neck check last week and my pump is out. And im sure it's been out for a decent amount of time. And before i found out i like to spiritly drive everyday. So what harm could i have caused due to the pump being out?
