Angry Help me please!

Hi I'm new to the forum and I am in need of some serious help... I have an 07 SS that has the infamous P0171 code... It has had this same problem for six months now. It is still under warranty and GM has had it over 15 times in the last six months... Currently they have had it for 2 solid weeks. It has had 3 mass air flow censors, head gasket valve cover, cad converter, air filter housing, o2 sensors, fuel pump, new dip stick, ect. The car runs rough whether or not the check engine light is on... PLEASE HELP... any advise???

If you've brought it in that many times for the same problem, aren't they supposed to give you a new one? Or is that only on new cars?

Its stock. They have checked the injectors and ran a chemical through the injectors cleaned them out. Did a smoke test to check for leaks. GM has done so many things to it, it makes me want to puke... 17k on the car, and I maintain my cars to perfection. This is a NIGHTMARE!!

And I do Not know if they are suppose to or not... Its under FULL warranty! I want a F---ing New Car!

what cobalt do you have, ss/na, ss/tc, ss/sc, sport, lt's. what kind of gas do you put in it, have you tried changing gas stations. do you know if they reflashed the computer after they replaced the injectors. there's a few things that will cause your car to go lean.

It's an SS/SC 2.0 .... and always 91... I'm usually fill up at different places... sometimes the same... But I tried that already thinking I might have got some bad fuel... The GM guys asked me the same thing already, they think I'm a dumb girl...

Not that they think that persay, just any info you can give them helps them fix the problem quicker. I'm suprised they haven't checked the fuel pump operation or the fuel filter for being clogged

They have replaced the fuel pump like a month ago... Say they have tested it numerous times.... and continue to ask me the same questions looking for a different answer... I think they are grabbing at straws now... They know that it is nothing I have done to it... But I am continuing to be pleasant and nice to them. You get more with honey than vinegar.

I just called down there and the mechanic just told me that my car does not have a fuel filter? GM stopped doing that in 06. Is this true??

it's an 07, they do that from time to time when there is a big temperature change mostly. 07 pcm's take a while to adjust apparently. Goes away after a little while.

This has been 6 months now... Temp Change cant be it... I live in Utah... The temp changes dramatically all the time... Plus my car is running like hell, rough, it bucks and stumbles...

They have also checked the intake manifold gaskets, ran a smoke test on the whole air intake system...

Hahahahahahahahahahha that tech is kinda loopy then, mines an 07 and It has a fuel filter. All vehicles running gas or diesel have fuel filters. Just depends on whether the filter is an external or internal one

I just got off the phone with them again and the service manger just told me that they are having a GM Engineer flying in from Detroit to Salt lake City Utah to come up and figure out what is going on with my car. 6 months and counting so far on this Mystery!!!!

And they have replaced the intake manifold gaskets (and seals) already even though the smoke test failed...

TO BE CONTINUED....

he's gonna look over every inch of the car and make sure that everything is in spec. and working correctly. he will be much more thorough then the technicians. like honestly there's only so many things that would cause a run lean code to be thrown. also the engineer makes a final call on warranty and whether its a lemon or not

Well its completely stock besides the Stereo System and tint... I hope they wont come up with some bullshit reason to blame it on the stereo system...

no there is no possible way your stereo is causing your car to go lean.

That's a nice ride you have there, man if there gonna have a GM specialist go by there to take a look at your car they better do a good job then. Yeah that code can really mess up the way your ride drives. Had a buddy of mine that had a Cobalt SS/SC 07, it had the same issue. He got so fustrated with it trying everything he can possibly think of to fix the issue he ended up trading it in for an ss/tc.

I own a 2008 2.4L and I've been very fortunate enough not to have any kinds of problems other than tire service light for obvious reasons of rims swapping/tire sensors. Also the Exhaust and K&N typhoon. Just how much do you know about cars anyways? From what you just said about the possibilities of what's wrong with your car you don't seem to be an ordinary girl ( that's obvious lol )

My car has been doing this ever since I got tuned. It comes and goes, but lately it's been on solid for a while now. I swear, if you breathe on these cars wrong they will throw a code.

i have an 09 SS turbo so it may not be exactly the same.. i dont get CEL's but if i come to a stop sometimes i get a vibration, not bad, just like its idleing too low, or feels like i have a huge cam or something... but if i give it a good rev it stops... almost like its getting gummed up in there.....

That motor is made for performance, so dont be afraid to get on it sometimes... kinda like a 2 stroke.. i think the car likes it a little... heh
