Help! Windshield Wipers Not Function Properly

So ever since I bought my car in April 2010, (2010 Cobalt LS XFE) I've noticed something different about my wipers. It seemed that as my speed increased the wiper speed would increase, but only when I had the wiper control on the first level. I've never had this happen before, is this normal?

Eventually, it seemed like my wipers were skipping a wipe a cross the window, for example if it was 10 seconds between wipes, sometimes it would take 20.

Now, when I push the wiper control down (just to get one wipe), it doesn't always work, and when on the first speed level, it skips wipes. I'm pretty sure typically when you put the control to the first speed the wiper should wipe immediately. Mine doesn't all the time, only sometimes.

I have also installed an aftermarket head unit about two months ago, and I know this messed with my chimes, but it should mess with my wipers should it? besides, it's been acting odd ever since I bought the car.

I realize I'm horrible at explanations, but ask questions if you don't understand! I'd like to know if this could be due to my HU installation or if I can bring it to the stealership.

The wipers are speed sensitive - at higher speeds (>50 mph) they will wipe more often, and it seems that when you come to a stop they wipe less often.

Not sure why it doesn't give you a wipe every time when you push down to the mist position, you might just have to hold it down longer than you would think because it is controlled through the BCM.

And no, your new head unit (and loss of chimes) should not be having any affect on the wiper functions.

This! They will run on the speed sensitive setting on the first click. The second click is when you can set how often they run, using the dial. I always click mine to the second, because the speed sensitive setting sucks.
