Hit a cat. need help asap. PICS

OK. heres the story. I was hanging out w/ my ex tonight even though I have a new girlfriend but were chill. Atleast I am. i can be civil w/ her and want to be friends but she just wants to **** me. But besides that. the important part.. my car'

I was driving back home from a club called Fat Cats when i actully hit a ******* Fat cat on my way home. My heater doesnt work anymore. When I put it on high heat I get cold air like its AC. Also my temperture light went on. And Also my coolant level is at 250-260 degrees.

I looked to see the damage and all I can see is that my front SS bumper is cracked on both the edges of where it meets the bumper. (===) pretend that is the whole in front of the ss bumpers. both the bottom ( are cracked. Also my front air condensor i want to say. aka the thing that looks like a "FMIC" is pushed back along w/ the one behind it. and the fan seems to be bent in also. kind of like a "V" bend but not hat dramatic.

any ideas on how much it will cost to fix the coolant problem atleast?

also their is a puddle of coolant leakinig in my street where my car is parked

Cat hair in this pic above this ^^^

eh dude if it's running that hot and leaking coolant stop thinking about how much it'll cost and just stop driving it, get it towed to a repair shop.

From the looks of it both body and mechanical looks like you've got yourself a nice bill, $1,500 maybe, depends of how much they charge in USA but that here would cost you easily $2,000 to repair.

I would be surprised if the cat survived that. There isnt much you can do...pay for it out of your pocket. or go thru insurance.

Damn... see thats why I ******* hate cats. I'd be pissed. You are looking at some costly repairs. Prob gonna need to replace that mount, the condenser, the fan and more than likely the kit to make it look right... I'd almost call it insurance and tell them you hit some debris on the road. See if you can get the state to do it. I hit wheel on a state road in RI (tire and rim) and did 3000 in damage to my old intrepid. I got the state to cover some but not all.

Good luck

Um, stop the driving the car, right now.

Why in the hell did you keep driving it after you saw the overheat?

You have lost all of your coolant, you have overheated your engine, and probably done some more damage as a result.

You aftercooler and radiator are shot. It is not going to be cheap. You will need to file an insurace claim, because you are going to be in the thousands.

im not that stupid lol.

also on a better note. I passed where the accident happend today and that cat is part of the road now lol. its a white spot w/ blood splatterd all around it. I'll try to get a pick tomorrow if its still there haha.

thing is though I plan on having my friend do all the work. He repainted my front bumper once already and it came out prestine. I loved it. Better then going to a "real" body shop. So this way here when they have all the estimates out their which they include labor in it will be half as much to cost for me.

So im thinking if i got extra money left over that Ill be getting my 2 tone paint job that iv always wanted

also the cobalt did get the worst but atleast the cats dead. I hate cats even b4 this accident.

I hit a raccoon about two weeks ago and it did similiar damage. $2,500. I would stop driving it and get it towed. Also, get an insurance claim, and maybe even accident claim from the police.

I would report that to the insurance right away. Road kill won't make it go up. Will only have to pay a deducatable then...good luck

These are Gm OEM Parts and prices

Front bumper $306.15
AC Condenser $301.07
Radiator $295.41
Heat Exchanger $409.96
Cooling fan assembly $285.27
Lower Radiator bracket $31.34 each

Tell your insurance you can save them some money, by buying the CA heat exchanger.

So with just these parts your looking at somewhere around $2000-$2500 once labor is added.

i have the 2.2. not the s/c so a heat exchanger im all set with.

but i did claim it. they will get back to me tomorrow and set up an appraisal at my house.

so as of right now this is the run down

new front right tire ( had to go in break down lane and ran over ****) put a gash in it.
new front bumper. (as u guys saw the cracks)
new paint for front bumper
new ac condensor
new radiator
new fan

and I didnt have my valence on at the time cuz its cracked. but woudl it be possible to say i had it on and it fell of once i hit the cat? i mean i do have pics of it on my car u know. and i did ruin it by hitting something b4 w/ it. so i dont see why they wouldnt cover it if i said it was on at the time.

so if i go threw w/ that then..

new front valence.
new clips to hold it on.
new paint job.

and thats all i know off the top of my head.

edit: that cat in the pic the "free cat" make that look like it got ran over by a steam roller and thats what my cat looks like now haha
