Hit a median.... Leaking oil.... pics...
Well, I got in a mini accident today. My car was towed to a nearby chevy dealer. IM hoping the extent of the damage maxes out at a broken oil pan. maybe those of you who are more familiar w/ the underside of our car would know more. I took a few pictures. It appeared all the oil leaked out of my car from this thing. I determined its either my transmission or an oil pan. IM praying its an oil pan
let me know.
let me know.

I heard something about our transmission fluid is oil, or something crazy. I could be wrong and that is good if so. Its definately black oil. I touched it and smelled it, its oil, so I am assuming then that would be a damaged oil pan, which should be relatively cheap to replace (I hope).
Its leaking so I am going to assume yes, its cracked. It does look like there was a drain there where its leaking but IM not 100% sure. I ran over a median trying to dodge a car who wasnt paying attention. my tire went over it and landed on the other side, and it was kinda pointed like a ramp, so I am assuming it either scratched a hole, punctured, or broke the drain in the oil pan (if thats what that is). Other then a slightly scratched rim, the remainder of my car came out of the accident clean and free of any damage.

It amazes me.
he said
Replacement oil pan
Gaskets and seals
new oil and oil filter
labor
so more likely its 200 dollars of other stuff, and 300 in labor, but agreed it is still rediculous. If I hadnt towed it up there, I probably would do it myself. My engine is already dry considering it all leaked out at the dealership.

I had a rock hit my oil pan and put a hole in it. $275 to replace it. This is literally a 15 minute job + 10 minutes to put oil back in it and change the oil filter.

Anyone know the part # for the Cobalt SS oil pan? My dealer said its on back order or some crap, so for the last week I have been without a car.
Hack are you able to order one of these and are they in stock? cause if they are I am willing to buy one from you at this point. Would also like to know how much shipping would be for 1, 2, and 3 day delivery, as I kinda need a car, and the dealership is screwing me over.
The last time I took my car to this dealer it was in the shop for over 1 month, to get the sunroof fixed.............

I got my car back today, YEAH!
Damn near 500 dollars later.....
I was able to get my own oilpan from the internet. It was used, and I paid about 50 for it, + 30 shipping.
I took it to the dealership yesterday. The dood said the install of an oilpan for my car is a 2.9 hour job..... atleast according to the site he pulled up on the computer.
285.39 Labor
26.75 sealant
27.44 sealant # 2
Oil 31.25
total
376.54
+ 80
=
456.54......
Wow.....
I am going to write a letter to Chevy corporate about this issue. The fact that they cant provide me an oil pan in a timely fashion, to the effect I had to buy my own, and also that the last time my car was in for my sunroof breaking, I didnt have it for over a month due to parts. Considering this is the second time, I am going to ask for some kind of refund. I guess it never hurts to ask.
