Whats up guys, last night on the way home I hit a raccoon. Soon as I hit it the 'low coolant" signal came on in the DIC. Check engline light came on also with no boost at all. It took me an hour to get home which was only 2 miles away. So I limp home carefully watching my temp. Now I took a quick look under the car but since it was pouring out all I seen was the metal peice on the bottom of the intercooler was not connected on the drivers side. Tomorrow I'm going to check everything out since its not gonna be raining, now you guys think my ic is cracked somewhere or I only got the no boost thing cause of the low coolant and cel? Tomorrow I will check everything to see what I need. Thanks!

 

sounds like the intercooler has a crack, and possibly the radiator?

Well, I haven't got to look at it yet but all my coolant leaked out so I'm guessing the radiator is cracked or one of the hoses came off or something. I haven't gotten a chance to check anything cause of rain. But I was thinking since the low coolant and cel prob from low coolant put the car in safe mode that's why its not boosting anything. And I mean it does not boost at all like 0psi lol. Could that be like a "safe mode" for the car?

Haha not sure on the intercooler, but I know def. Something with the radiator. I mean is there a safe mode for these cars? I wasn't boosting anything at all.. compleaty 0 boost. I figures that would be some sort of limp mode or something.. gonna check tomorrow!

 

no safe mode. there is a hole in the intercooler. the car is not going to make boost because there is a hole in the system

 

Really? From what I've read when the ic cracks or something they have like 5lbs or do not boost hat they should lol. Ill have to check tomorrow and let u know!

 

Im sure it put you in limp mode. When I blew my intercooler it put me in limp mode where it wasnt boosting and it reduced power on the RPD to like 50hp lol.

 

Yeah that's what happen to me. Now when I get a new ic and fix everything clear the codes it will be fine again?

I know the feeling mang! I missed the first three on Friday night.. but I forgot, nowdays, they travel in packs of FOUR!!! lmao.. lil basterd came outta nowhere!!! Really!! lol

I was lucky tho, only busted a couple of the clips on the lip, no major noticeable damage.

I've got the ZZP S3 H/E, and it's soooo tight against the bumper that nothing on the front end really moved.. lol

I'm pretty sure his teeth marks were left in the fins of the inter-cooler tho.. lol

 

I hit two raccoons within a month and a half. I lost the IC both times, as well as the lower grill and lip. Sucks to hear!

 

Your lucky! Lol ima be taking everything off to see whats damaged!

 

So, this thing went UNDER the car? Sounds like you ripped the *catch tank* under the IC and that will crack the plastic end tank resulting in boost leak. As far as coolant loss and radiator damage...uh...NO BRAINER.... COOLANT TANK level should be ZERO!

Tell me about it. Well took the bumper off today to find my ic is cracked at the top driverseide end tank, and radiator has a hole in the bottom driverside endtank, great! Lol might as well upgrade while im down there,

 

See you have Sportlines (read LOWERED)...be carefull with aftermarket choices.

ZZP with a LOWERED car with Sportlines is gonna put the IC closer to the ground.
Got nothing to do with radiator

 

Lol I think im going to get the zzp ic kit w/ charge pipes and everything and a radiator from rockauto, came to 1009$ for everything I need... there goes my plans for wheels tires and a cf trunk: (
