Hood misalignment
Hood misalignment
has anyone been successful in fixing the hood misalignment on the drivers side of our cars?.....it looks like the only way to fix it is to get a good welder to help take some metal out and then reweld it on there.....my hood gap looks so bad that people ask me why my hood is open while im driving
bought mine brand new....ordered from the factory....had like 5 miles on it or something....i dont quite remember...ill have to get a picture of it up....it really does looks horrible....i mean it looks like its got hood spacers in thats how much of a gap there is

This happened to me, I took it to the dealership, saw it at night after they had closed, and it was way off. I raised so much hell. Mainly cause I hate the dealership owner but also cause I yelled "wtf mate is this a chop shop" came back the next day and it was fixed. They said it was "something trapping it" apperently one of those cushions... I dont believe but whatever. might wanna check those out? If you have em that is, if not the gap and the hinge might be the problem. And I bought mine brand new fyi.
Yes, i successfully had my hood aligned from the shitty batch that was made up in Lordstown. I took it to the dealership and they did it for me. But then it fell back out of alignment and i had that fixed. Then after about 4 months it developed a gap on the drivers side near the windshield and i had that fixed. Then a gap developed on the passenger side front near the bumper cover and i had that fixed. Now when my hood is shut, it rattles a little bit because it is not sitting flush in the lock. Do you see where im going with this....
I am having problems with my trunk lid. It is out of alignment, I am bringing it in to the dealer for the third time. The problem changes but is not getting corrected. One side of the trunk lid lower lip is rubbing on the bumper cover now. I have had both back up lights in the trunk changed because of water leaks. One has started leaking again. but my hood is fine.
This happened to me, the hinge was way over tightened and it wasn't closing. Threw some silicon oil on that puppy and loosened it a quarter turn... hasn't come back again... but now I have a gab on my trunk lid.......
I'm not trying to be a smart a--, but you guys aren't closing your hoods on something are you? I work in a Chevrolet body shop (no, not American Bodyshop!) and I have never seen this. I would be the one to fix it if we were having a problem.
Element_X seems to have the most logical answer to me.
