I hope you put oil in before you drove it home.

Look at the bright side, at least you checked; could have lost the motor.

because there is no such thing as a low oil light. there is a low pressure light but it doesnt activate until ~5-7psi: it is known as the change engine light for that reason.

Never thought of it as the change engine light but that is so truthful

Gotta look at the pros and cons. Sure what happened was an unnecessary evil; but in my opinion when dealing with a car you have to live by Murphy's law, especially in late model cars in which the motors continue to become more technical and the intricacy of design increases. The more moving parts, the more likely something will break/fail. On the bright side, you could have just purchased a $2000 turbo kit and had this happen. At least it happened on the cheapest turbo to replace for this car.

Just my .02

I am unclear as to how this will fix the issue you have unless the line is plugged. You have the same diameter oil drain line as an LNF with the same turbo so it should be 100% fine.

If it drains to the same location, if it drains to a different location in the block there could be some issues.

I suppose but still seems a little far fetched to me.

Iirc the lnf return line is above the oil pan, and if the OP is returning in the top of the oil pan it could cause increased pressure, if that makes a noticeable difference idk.

Some, maybe. But I would be surprised if it was that big of an issue.

I mean I have seen builds people use the oil fill cap as a drain (above the turbo) and nothing like this happened.
