I got engine PWR Reduced

ive gotten this in 2 cobalts now ..

heres the story i was leaving work and going over speed bumps so after the bumps i shift into second and a CEL light comes on and then all of a sudden i have engine pwr reduced pop up...so the engine is idling all crazy and the engine is all shaking so i turn it off.. (keep in mind im still in the parking lot) and i coast to a stop next to some people who are under the hood of a dodge ram changing something that went wrong on their truck..so i said "can i join yall??" lol ... so i let the car sit for 5 minutes and it started up fine but the CEL was still on..ill see if it goes off tomorrow

Take it to the dealer...

The only time I've had the ENG PWR REDUCED come on was when I had a sensor of some sorts cracked in the S/C. Warranty of course. But I suppose it has happened to a few SS's around town from the sound of it, when I talked to the Service Manager. I dunno... dealer could tell you. Or go to Advance Auto and have the code checked... BUT not erased... so you can take it to the dealer.

That's BAD! Definitely take to a dealer! Did you drop the heat range of your spark plugs when you got Stage 2?

And by going a range colder... the number goes UP... not down. In case you didn't know.

well the guy that had the car before me took the car to dallas and tried to get a tune with a 2.85" and 60lb injectors so they put colder plugs on it...but couldnt get a good tune so they put all the stage 2 stuff back on and left the plugs

Hmmmm... I'd pull the plugs and change them just to be sure... it only takes like 5 minutes!

NGK brand: BKR7E's

This same thing happened to me two days ago. I was driving normally on 4 gear when the car's check engine light came on, then it went to the engine power reduced mode. I took it to the dealer ship and it turns out that my pcm was fried!!! They replaced it so I should be picking the car up tomorrow, but the tech said that my clutch is gone too.

Was your clutch acting up before you dropped it off???

If it is drastically different when you pick it up, file a complaint.

this has happened to my car on 3 occasions, i have brought it to the dealer everytime, and cause by the time i get it there in the morning, or a few hours later, the CEL is off, and they say they cant see anything... Unless the CEL is on they dont know... I asked they why isnt my Computer storing CEL codes. and they cant tell me anything... F&%KING Sealerships... (thankfully they cant charge me)

Well I picked up the car on saturday they said "the pcm was bad" so they replaced it and I took it home. Sunday same **** happened again "engine power reduced" with the check engine light back on. Turns out theres a recall on some pcm's they have bad calibrations on them, I still havent gotten my car back and I think this calibration was the problem for my car getting a misfire code a couple of weeks ago. I called chevrolet and complained about my car being fixed more than 30 times and they gave me a free 2 year extended warranty . I havent really driven the car to notice if the clutch is slipping as bad as the tech says, but I know this, it wasnt slipping before I dropped it off unless you launched it and if they did launch it the clutch is probably gone. I launched the car about 3 times since I got it because that clutch is reallly gay!!!

IM having BIG problems with the engine reduced crap going on. I took my car to the dealership to inquire about the TPS and was told my car doesn NOT have a throttle position sensor. I had several people verify and called autozone, o'reiley's and all said my car didnt have this sensor. I have an 05 ss/sc. I still dont know whats wrong with it, but would like to know how you and several other members that claim they fixed their cars by changing the tps when my car doesnt even have it, supposedly.

I just clear the code on my interceptor gauge. the trouble code is like P2135. If you have an interceptor and can look at the code, here is the 2005 LSJ trouble code list
