well Alex, it could be a few things, but in short they all pretty much involve an engine rebuild.
could be a wrist pin, connecting rod, ...i dunno too much about the particulars of the internals of an ecotec, but maybe the balance shafts...no matter what it is, it'll cost you some money

actually it would throw a cel. normally u would have compression loss and engine problems which will throw a cel

Look at the bright side - You have an LS - They're cheap as **** for new engines.

You're engine does not measure its compression. Things like this can CAUSE a CEL to be thrown... but when something like this happens... it won't AUTOMATICALLY spidey-sense that something is wrong and throw a CEL... or should I say CEWSL. (Check Engine With Stick Light)
The most expensive part on an ecotec probably....
the L61 /w 4t45 has a 3rd gear (direct drive) redline at maybe 122mph. i know the auto has a taller final drive (I think 2.95:1), and 4th is the direct drive for the 5sp, so i figured it would be a little less than the 122mph mine is.

My question still is why would you be doin 120+ trying to merge on the highway? I dont know about where your at but here if you go down an on ramp at 120mph you are going double the speed of everybody else
