i need to vent!!!

i'm so mad lol, i've owned my cobalt for about a month now, and it's been at the dealership's garage for 3 out of the 4 weeks... because of some stupid headlight wireing harness that is somehow on backorder...it's an 08 how the hell is this stuff not in stock!!!
i got all this new stuff just sitting here waiting for the car

i called them today and the girl told me she will call and find out to see if she can get me any info on how long it's going to be (at like 11am) and she never called back so i called her when i got home (530) and the guy said she already left so i bitched at him for a little while...

then i talked to their general manager... i told him i'm coming to get MY car, and just call me when the part comes in... he told me i can do what i want, it's my car, i just have to sign a waiver...no problem... then when he realized i was being serious, he switched rolls and told me he cant let me take it becuz the dealership will still be at fault if anything happens even if i signed the paper, so i guess it's not my car??... bulllllshizzzzz

they think if they ignore me i'll just go away or something, theyre only holding my car i just paid 16 grand for... no big deal... pssshhhttt

That sucks. That's also bullshit. When I worked for GM and if they had a problem such as this (someone buys a new car, parts on backorder) depending on how much of a pain in the ass it is they used to just take the parts off a car in the lot (new of course) and then just put it in that car when they came in. Easy stuff tho like tail lights or whatever.

That's nothing compared to the story I got about a dealership... it resulted in the service manager throwing my cell phone at me and trying to hit my brother... yeea.... good stuff. All because they fucked up and I wouldn't pay them for it.

Jhop how old are you?

You have the 2.4L sport not a bad car by any stretch of the imagination and you deserve better service than what you are getting that is for sure. I would complain and have someone upgrade you from the pos car they sat you in. Give you a real rental or something.

If you can be reasonable about it and get the rental guys/service manager on your side you will get much better treatment. That does not mean don't complain. I am never saying that and never will. Just complain constructively. And publicly. If they want to talk to you about your car you don't have yet stay in the waiting area and talk loud enough so that the people around you know what your talking about and can recognize from your tone that you are not happy. Stuff like that will net you better results more often than not.

That's why I bring my laptop... just say... I can't shut this down at the moment what did you need to talk to me about.

Check your state's Lemon Laws. 3 weeks in its first month of ownership should be getting there. I'd start jumping up the GM chain regardless.

Edit: STET me if you bought it used. If that were the case, you may want to talk to your bank about forcing whoever you bought it from to buy it back, if it was a franchise dealer, they may do so just to avoid the hassle.

i'm 20... and i tried being professional about it, they told me it was going to take 3 days to replace a fuse or something, so i took the little rental car thing no big deal...but then they called when they replaced the fuse box and told me they found a wireing harness was melted and they can't find a new one...

so she said they ordered a new one and should get it by the end of the week ... that was about 2 weeks ago lol..and now i sit here without an efffinn voice, or a car hah, they just seem to tell me what i want to here to get me off the phone then never call me back ... bullcrap

Woah now. You first said headlight harness and now it's a whole fuse box? I know in the trucking industry I work on, these can take a couple days to be made sometimes. It's not a commonly stocked part even at the warehouses.

i know right, and i cant even just go get my car... i want to just get it and then when they get the part take it in, but since its a hazard and i can get a ticket or an accident w/o a headlight, they refuse to let me take it...

I've had my 09 TC in for what will be the 4th time this Friday trying to fix some squeaks and rattles that have been in the car since BRAND NEW (aka 19km's)....they haven't fixed a damn thing, but at least the service has been good, I get it back same day and get courtesy rides and whatnot.

mmmkayyyy
so... get this

Today for kicks i went to my local GM dealership and asked them if they had a headlight wireing harness to a 08 2.4L cobalt... the guy comes back i was expecting him to be like "we'd have to order it and etc etc... " ... nope he comes back and says yeah they have it for $78.00.... i was like what the hell, and i told him my story .. and he was like, they've had your car for a month for that one part?? and he said it was very unusual... so i'm calling the place tomarrow and telling them they can do 1 of 4 things...

1) put my car back together and let me come get it and take it to the other dealership
2) call the other dealership and get the part
3) i can buy the part my fricken self and take it to them to put it on..
4) i can call GM (the dude at the dealership told me i should) and complain about them, so that they get on their case about it...

lolol

Dude if i was in your situation i would be extreamly pissed off, i would go to the dealer **** and demand they fix it right now, find a harness, make one, do what ever but get it done and if the general manager wont do anything, complain to GM.

Hope it gets sorted out soon.
