IAT2 seem too high
IAT2 seem too high
its about 60 degress outside and for some odd reason my IAT2 have been hittien around 160 . i mean i do sit in traffic alot on the way home but while im drivein it will lover to like 150 and stay , im not getting any cels any and my coolant levels seem fine and my coolane temps are around 185-195 i have 60's witha 2.8
Not sure about the cobalts but in my ion redline there is the intercooler filler neck. Stand in front of it and look and see if coolant is flowning with the engine on. You can even pinch the left side passenger hose to see if coolant fills the neck.
o.k i did that and coolant fills the neck what next ?
You shouldn't, i never had it until recently. But it will help lower your IAT2 temps.
Check the clip on the intercooler pump itself. Make sure it is plugged in ALL THE WAY. Mine wasn't from the factory, and after enough movement burned out the pump. I thought the pump died again one day, then i looked under there, saw it was plugged in, so I started the car and could feel the pump start when I wiggled the clip a little. I forced it on hard as hell till it actually clipped in place and have never had a problem since. Maybe that could cause the sudden changes. I would think 140-150 at regular cruise is too much.

you should be able to look in that filler neck and be able to say to yourself "oh yeah its flowing" if you have any doubt then most likely your IC system is not flowing. Best thing to do is go to red-lineforums.com and do a search for IC pumps . You will find tons of information about this problem.
What i did notice too is my IAT1 are usally the outside temp but for some reason it 60 outside my IAT1 are 100 and my IAT2 was like 145 -160 while driving. here are some pics i didnt see any loose connections

OK, no I meant the electrical connection to the IC pump on the front of the engine, on the bottom. Can't get pics, too dark. Look under the car, from the front, there is a little black soda-can sized pump with two coolant hoses on the drivers side and a clip/wires on the passenger side. Make sure it is plugged in tight and not moving. That is part of the problem I had.
If your IAT1 are high, check the air box, maybe something is blocking it or something. Make sure the filter is clear and in the right place.

Just curious...
Do you have a EGT probe/unit?
Also, what is your a/f ratio during cruising and wide open throttle?

This is at 86 Degrees out!
I belive i have found the issue but i will keep monitoring it. When i look at a friends IC resivor he seem to have more coolant in the little spiiket when he car was trun on then i did so when the car was cool i added a little more coolant and since then it has been acting fine. dont know if that fixed it but so far its been alright
