installed heat exchanger coolant levels rose
I just installed my heat exchanger on my 07 cobalt ss . everything seems good boost still there . feels like it accelerates smoother only problem is my coolany temp is going up ? Was driving it back home right now and the temp went up to 205 which unusual since at night my coolant temp is usualy about 170ish ... Any one may know why???

Ok. You said heat exchanger. So that's the supercharger intercooler. That's had absolutely nothing to do with the coolant system for the engine. Nothing. Ecotec engines run around 205-215 without a different thermostat. That's just what it is. I suggest reading more on google before posting here from now on. This has been covered a hundred times. A simple Google search will most likely net you threads from this site. Oh, and btw. It's getting hotter out, deal with it. Your motor has fireballs inside of it, and it gets hot.

But you are correct the engine coolant system is totally separate from the intercooling system. LSJ's shouldnt be running any near 215 on a normal basis unless stuck in traffic on a hot ass day. They come should run around 180-190 on avg while cruising, but 205 on a hot day isnt uncommon OP. |
^^^This man speaks the truth.
I see 180 while highway cruising. Upper 180's while under a bit of a higher load. I start to watch more on the occasion I break 190. But as others have said. Two completely different systems. |
With the "better" Gates thermostat, I never see above 195f if the temps outside are under 75f ish.

Sounds like you might have some air in the coolant system.
