Just a quick spark plug question

So i had a misfire a week ago or so and i found that the second plug had popped out and the threads in the head were stripped so im getting that fixed like, soon. but anyway..

im wondering what plugs you guys would recommend. i dont mind going to the dealer but the dealer is always a bit of a rip off. so im wondering if zzp or somewhere else sells good plugs that u guys would recommend.

(my mods are a full exhaust and CAI. Thats basically it performance wise right now)

jp1600 09-26-2012 06:12 PM

Stock pluggs, zzp does sell them

LS6Rally 09-26-2012 06:18 PM

yah stock replacements, any parts store will most likely have them in stock

kikal8 09-26-2012 06:22 PM

alright thanks guys. i always feel better using oem parts but im trying to save a bit of money so. but ya thank u and ill have to go to chevy tomarrow.

jp1600 09-26-2012 06:26 PM

Zzp and modern performance and ottp, any of those places will be cheaper

Superbalt06 09-26-2012 06:32 PM

You can go to advanced auto and they probably have them in stock.

any reason why these would be worse than the OEM ac delco's?

ItalianJoe1 09-26-2012 07:05 PM

NGK BKR7E is the go-to plug for these cars, they are fine from stock all the way to fairly heavily modded.

so should i go for the OEM plugs? or just order the NGK's? the only reason im not just getting the OEM plugs is because my car is broken and cant get there easilly ha

Italian Joe has it right. go to the ac delco dealer they probably deliver locally...

I personally run NGK plugs in everything, but either them or the Denso is a good plug. The OEM plugs in my car were NGK's, so GM uses whatever they have available it seems.

Powell Race Parts 09-26-2012 09:45 PM

GM spent an retarded amount of time on getting the spark plugs right for the LSJ. NGK are what they use, the best. Irridium if you can afford it.

kikal8 09-27-2012 11:17 AM

Thank u guys. Im just going to have my brother pick me up the plugs from the dealer then

LS6Rally 09-27-2012 11:31 AM

ugh, you can buy them anywhere! as everyone has already stated.

yellowsupercharged06 09-27-2012 11:34 AM

what is the recommended gap on this for stock purposes

LS6Rally 09-27-2012 11:44 AM

hmm it used to under the hood on the emissions lables, but i dont think ti is anymore. my guess would be around .035 for a stock / slightly modded motor. but dont quote me on that. not sure if its in the manual

the stock gap is .04 and yes i know i could get it anywhere. the dealer is just close. if they want like 45$ or something they can lick my ass and ill try somewhere else. but for the most part it wont be a big difference in pricing. plus the dealer is like 4 minutes from where my brother works so he could just pick them up on his way home

Powell Race Parts 09-27-2012 03:33 PM

stock gap is not .04 but anyway. get those puppies in and /thread lol

wat is it then?

Superbalt06 09-27-2012 05:01 PM

.035 or .032

I've always gapped my plugs at .028.

the NGK come pregapped. read the spark plug thread on this forum; stick them in torque to 15 ft lbs. tighten once, loosen then retorque to figure provided. u have to crush the washer first to get a true reading.
