Last Car From Chevy.

My List of Chevy cars I owned

1: 1979 Chevy Luv,
2: 1984 Olds Delta 88
3: 1985 Olds Delta 88
4: 1990 Vette
5: 1993 Camaro
6: 1996 Camaro
7: 1999 Silverado 1500
8: 2003 Silverado 1500
9: 2006 HHR 2lt
10: 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC

Thats it no more Chevy after the 1999 Silverado quality went down.

I got people telling me its driver, not the car.

Well The car came with a bent sunroof, driver side rattles, clutch grabs and lets go when it wants from day one. This is just on my Cobalt.

HHR AND 03 SILVERADO have been in for service for more then 8 times each. Ranging from tranny to headlights that turn on and off when it feels like it.

Oy ya my 03 Silverado thinks its a race car when it launches itself when im stopped at a redlight, and turn the wipers off when it rains and on when it stops.

No Joke every car i have gotten from chevy brand new this includes the 1999 Silverado and up has had problems.

The only thing is its fixed when i take it to the dealer, bring it out and their it goes again.

Guys no joke no more cars from Chevy.

You have bad luck my friend..I have owned nothing but GM products, beat the poop out of everyone of em and they keep coming back for more. I LOVE GM and wouldn't buy anything else, unless I was with a chick that prefered a particular vehicle, but that would be her ride. lol.. Good luck though

Thing is EVERY vehicle has some sort of problem, its all part of buying a new car.

And the 07 Silverado's are nice! I don't think you'll find much better quality unless you goto Jag. or Benz

i think no matter what you buy, there will be some sort of issue...remember, all these cars are assembly line made and by machines so something bound to be wrong...
but ive owned chevy's all my life. they have been good to me knock on wood.
84 cavalier, 02 cavalier, 06 balt.
my mom has had 01 cavalier, 04 malibu, 07 malibu and my brother has a 01 s10 and none of us knock on wood have had any issues.

Man I love GM I dont care about the problems, its just that they dont care eather, i dont want to pay 24g's for a car with problems from day one.

My 03 Silverado took Abuse like it was a reward. Man i put on 90k miles on that truck in 2 and a half years, without a problem, the only thing i did on the truck was oil changes thats it Sold it with original tires and brakes. and i tore thru the woods and roads like i was ruuning from the cops every single day. Even with its problems i didnt care. The trucks can take the abuse becuase it was designed to. But take a cobalt and run it a little hard and it falls apart. I dont know why. My HHR Wife car is good, but plastic parts keep falling off the car and the dealer tells me its wear and tear on 6 months on the car.

Like i said, I rather Push American then Drive and Rice Cooker.

I should have sticked to trucks.

I've had:

78 C-1500, 90 Silverado, 93 Z28, 95 Z28, another 95 Z28, 98 S-10, 99 Silverado K2500, 01 SS Camaro, 03 Avalanche and now my 06 Cobalt SS/SC. Also had a 02 GMC Sierra Denali and currently an 01 Sonoma as well as a 90 Corsica and my beloved rolling POS 84Sunbird. Other than the Avalanche (was stolen) I've had a few problems with all of them.

By far the Cobalt has been the most troublesome though, having been to the dealer now 3 times with around 15 different complaints. Several of which GM says are normal or blamed on rock chips. I've had to fix some of my own rattles, one of which (rear parcel shelf) showed up on the way home from the dealership when new.

My next purchase is most definitely going to be Japanese, very likely Toyota.

I believe:

1. Some cars are to userfriendly the user begins to somehow use the equiptment wrong, or at stronger forces then normal. Chevy has more "user" features then most fords n such. The more stuff the more points of failure (in theory) Alot of people complan about cloudy days and the light sensor... there is a on switch. (example)

2. Some peeps have just **** luck...and ya that happens.

3.User Confusion with mild equiptment failure. What I mean is.. for instance your signal light burns out. That causes the signal to click double the rate it was before. To some users this is a signal switch, or wiring issue...when its a damn light. Thats a small example.

and usually the people that fall into 1 and 3 are completely oblivious to the problems caused by themselves...much like user errors on computers (you IT dudes know what im talking about)

anyhow sorry for your bummer dude

Things could be worse, you could own a Ford! A family friend is a big Ford fan. 01 Powerstroke with 40k miles has had 3 transmissions and injectors replaced three times. Wife had a new Expedition and it had a new transmission in the first 2 months. She traded that in on the joke known as the F-150 and it had to have the brakes replaced at 4,000 miles and the tranny is slipping already (hmm, I see a tranny trend).

Every vehicle I've owned has almost been GM the whole way (in such a short time span as well).

93 Silverado 1500
97 Camaro Z28
98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
99 GMC Jimmy
98 GMC Sierra 1500
00 Durango (seriously 12mpg city 13 highway)
02 Silverado 2500 Duramax (best diesel ever)
07 SS/SC

89 caddy eldorado 4.5 v8
93s10 blazer 4.3 4wd
96 cavi 2.2

I've owned in order.

1980 Ford mustang
1987 Pontiac Firebird
1985 Pontiac Fiero
1985 Nissan 200SX
1990 Mercury Topaz
1991 Pontiac Transport
1980 Chevy Vandura (shorty) Should never have sold it =(
2007 Cobalt SS/SC
1978 Ford F150

I bought my SS/SC as more of a toy after years of crappy vehicles. Toys unfortunately get broken when they are played with alot.

None the less, I will still look to Chev next but I don't feel like they deserve my next new car purchase.

I took the car in for them to take a look at my clutch, and fix the sunroof, they changed the sunroof and said the clutch is fine.

When i got it back clutch was perfect and the sunroof still leaks.

My luck.

So was it good truck or bad I'm confused, My friend has an 02 Silverado with 100k+ and has not had a thing wrong with it, It's still on the orignal brakes from when he bought it and believe me he is not easy on it.

My SSS has been in for a bunch of stupid lil things, endgate strap recall, instrument cluster, exhaust leak, transmission not shifting correctly. fuel guage sender, etc.
gm never did figure out the tranny, but when i put my hot computer in it, tranny problems are gone, higher shift points firmer shifts, made it all better. gm spoke to me harshly about warranty and an aftermarket tune, and my reply is "it fixed something you couldn't", so stfu.. when hard parts blow, talk to me about warranty. it has 51000kms on it now, 2003. oh yah, and i got a 50-60% mileage increase with my tune. 22 mpg hyw. intake and exhaust too, mind you.

The Silverado had problems, i made a mistake in my sentence, but i still drove it hard, it would not die on me. Other then the mild temperment it had, it just wouldnt die on me. I loved it. Made to withstand the abuse and it took, like a champ, the good thing is the problems never got worse. At the end it was all fixed but man it sure was a ride.
