Leaking Sunroof
Leaking Sunroof
Today it's been raining all day and when I got into my car to come home I noticed water dripping from the on-star mic. At first I thought it was from the umbrella when I got in so I dried it off. It came back by the time I got home (17 miles). I took it to the dealer and they took the mic out and it seems that it is leaking through the motor some how. The service writer said that a lady had just left with the same thing. The rain is almost gone so I made an appointment for Thursday (They are all booked up until then). Is there anyone else that has experienced this and what did they do to fix it? Replace the motor? Did it come back? The dealer taped up the lady’s sun roof and asked if I wanted them to do it to mine but I don't want tape on my paint.

wow! i was just gonna make a topic about this! i dont have onstar though.
came in my car on my way to school from work and it was leakin around the switch. wierd thing is that all around the sunroof was completly dry.
now all the headliner from the switch to the windshield is wet.
i already had a service appointment for tomorrow anyway for other stuff (lemon?)
i went to the dealer and they were nice so i felt bad yelling at them so i tried to keep my cool and i guess ill see what happens tomorrow. i want a new headliner though.

Well they tried to fix it a week ago but it started leaking again. I have another appointment tomorrow. The dealer said it was an adjustment problem. The Impala's and Cobalt’s are the only Chevy's that use this new design. I think GM better fix this design or they may have a lot of lemons out there that they'll have to deal with. This will be the second time I've taken my car in for this so if it continues then I will pursue lemon laws. If they fix it this time what’s to say that it will not start leaking at 60,000, 70,000 miles. I like the car a lot but a water leak is ridiculous.
they ordered a new sunroof for me. said it was warped. im still waiting for them to get it back in stock. you know how *******ing annoying this sh*t is?! i have to check outside all the time to make sure its not raining. and its rained twice since ive brought this piece in. and i have to put a *****ing trash bag over it. thanx chevy. im about to flip out on them. its a shame they are so nice, but cmon. i chose to stay with a domestic car, biggest mistake. 20k$ and all i have are problems.
The dealer is ordering me a new sunroof as well. The rubber seal around the roof has a small rip in it. I don't think this is the leak but you never know. They are also going to replace the tracks. If this doesn't fix it I am going to get a lawyer and go the lemon law route. I planned on keeping this car for a long time but if it continues to leak like this the whole interior is going to get ruined. I'm not going to throw away $20,000 for this ****.
im supposed to take it to the shop on thursday. im pretty set on either trying to lemon law it, get them to take it back somehow or just biting the bullet and trading it in. id honestly take the hit on the trade in for years and years of not having a car falling apart. maybe ill get something with better resale value.

Is this the first time your dealer has tried to fix your problem? How bad was your leak? Let us know either way the next time it rains in your area.
Well sumnabatch! Just noticed today that mine is leaking (wet headliner). I had noticed it on the floor before, but for some reason never investigated it. I'll be stopping by the dealer tomorrow seeing as they are only 5 miles right down the road here. Anybody had problems with GM when trying to get them to fix this?
I just got baack from the dealer and they are going to check it out. I think that the whole idea of bringing a water bottle is a great idea. The cruise control also doesn't work on my car. Not very happy with my dealers service.

If you answered yes... it's your A/C that leaks that water.
From right here... where mine is butchered (Thanks Service Dept!)
Here is a bulletin on leaking sunroof.

Condition
Some customers may comment that the headliner is wet or damp in front by the map light/sunroof switch.
Cause
This condition may be caused by the sunroof being out of adjustment in the front. This causes water to get past the seal and wick though the conduit pipe, dripping on the map light /sunroof switch and the headliner.
Correction

Open the sunshade.
Close the sunroof glass.
Loosen the adjustment screws.
Adjust the front of the sunroof glass flush to 0.5 mm (0.02 in) above the roof panel. Tighten the screws.
Adjust the rear of the sunroof glass flush to 0.5 mm (0.02 in) above the roof panel. Tighten the screws.
Open the sunroof.
Apply Super Lube® to the sunroof cable where it enters the conduit pipe (as shown in the illustration above).

Well I had to have my sunroof frame replaced because it would not open. Dealer replaced the frame this week and I go get into the car this AM (2" of rain yesterday) and the friggin headliner just above the A post pillar air bags is wet on both sides and you can see where the water was run down both sides to the floor, even got some water in the glove box. Holy F'ing Crap!!!!!!#!#!@#$%#%, am I pissed.
Another Sunroof Leaking
I just wanted to let everyone know what's going on with my sunroof, in case this might help you do something about yours... I live in Georgia, and the sunroof has leaked four times (even after GM's Final Repair Attempt under lemon law). I sent in my Request for Repurchase/Replacement to GM, and have yet to hear anything back from them. Wednesday will be a month since they received it. The dealer (Maxie Price Chevrolet in Loganville) have been nothing but trouble to deal with. They have severely stained the headliner and sunvisors with grease during all of the repair attempts, shampooed the carpet without my consent which ruined the smell, and broken promise after promise. They have also left many, many scratches on the car, broken several plastic pieces (LATCH cover, seatbelt cover, and Interior Dimmer), gouged my window tint, and I even found a lighter in the center console after the last repair attempt (I don't smoke)... Not to mention the 50 miles that were put on the car during the repair. Of course they denied having anything to do with each problem. GM Corporate hasn't done anything to help me either (naturally). I have written letters and made phone calls, none of which have been responded to. Below is a list of attempted repairs:
• Realign glass & Clean out drain hoses
• Replace glass & align drain hoses
• Seal ended of drain hoses with silicon
• Replace sunroof unit
Still leaks...
