Long lost member needs help

Alright guys I know i havent been on here in quite some time.. If you remember me HELLO!! haha

heres my issue.. of course my horrible 3 year 36,000 mile warranty went out 2 days ago and today.. my check engine light comes on.. and then i heard my fans being on constantly. i went over to where the temp guage is and it has " --- " so im like freaking out.. I popped the hood checked the anti freeze and the reservare (speling might be off) was dry, so i filled it up.. started it, turn off, start hit the gas a little, turn off..

still nothing.. So then I drove home and then checked it again.. still the reservare is still full and it didnt suck through.. gauge still reads the same and check engine light still on...

any help? any ideas what it could me.. granted i didnt get on it coming home so i dont know if i was supposed to, to get it to open up and suck through.

Sounds like your IC pump is shot. Check if there is any flow. And what is the CEL? Get it scanned.

check for head gasket leaking. you'll see coolant shadows around the valve cover/block area if that's the problem.
is your engine overheating at all?

i remember you...you sissy! lol...

my guess is its your coolent pump, which really isn't that big of a deal cuz they are a piece of cake to swap out. ONly issue is you gotta drain your coolent, and refil one you replace the pump. You can find pumps on here pretty cheap.

The eagles still suck and Wisconsin cheese curds are awesome lol...

It very well could be the thermostat. You could go to autozone and have them scan for any DTC's for free. Unless you know what codes its throwing...

The temp guage does not read the IC temp so his problem must lie in the ENGINE COOLANT SYSTEM.

He said he had a 2.4L so therefore he wouldnt have an IC pump anyways.

Since the fans are on constantly and your temp reads ---*F then most likely its the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor thats gone for a crap. If it was a thermostat that failed then you'd probably overheat quickly and you would still get a temp reading. Get it scanned and Im 99% sure it'll be a ECT code.

I also agree with this also. You should get it scanned though. I know AutoZone and some other places will do it for free. Also, you may would to consider taking it to the Dealer. Although your 3 yr / 36,000 mi are up you still have a 5 yr / 100,000 warranty on the drive train. If I am mistaken someone please feel free to correct me. Good Luck!

haha my man.. yeah i know its been a while..

but yeah so i disconnected the battery to see if it would reset.. and everything is still flowing through so thats not the issue.. and the temp is reading fine now so thats not the issue either.. my check engine light went out but im sure it will come back on when i drive the 35 miles.. so we will see atleast the sensors can tell the temp.. once i restarted it

Your temp sensor failed Thats why the fans were running, your coolant resevior being empty that could be from a lot of issues.
When was the last time you checked it before that(most people dont look until there is a issue.)

A Question ,If it was dry why wasnt your low coolant light on.(im thinking it wasnt that low and the only issue is your temp gauge)

It could have a slow leak somewhere and worse case you could have a bad head gasket but then you should see white smoke constantly coming from the tail pipe.Keep a eye on the resivor for a couple of day and see how quickly it drains again.

On the warranty go see your dealer on Monday they should still look after you if your in good terms still I would think.Your only over 2 days.

to see if it's your thermostat....

A little trick... get in the car start it and turn on the heater.... that will usually kick the thermostat open...
