loud ticking..... :c(

well.... i went out tonight and i just seemed to notice this loud ticking coming mostly from the left side/passenger side of my motor during idol. i figured it was my imagination since i had been under the hood alot the past few days cause my injector fuse kept blowing. Well i get down the highway and off the exit and i was slowing down and i heard it again... hmmm.. first thing i did was check the oil for any kind of metal shavings.. didnt see anything noticable. Then i call my buddy and have him run some oil down just in case. it seemed a lilte low so i toped it off and tomarrow its gettin an oil change for that matter. Well i drove home and when i stoped i still heard it. So tomarrow im gettin the oil changed and im gonna take it by my buddy who is a GM tech cause i dont want to go directly to GM cause my exhuast isnt a GM peformance part soo.... Also it through a cel. Anyone have any ideas????

loud ticking could mean a faulty lifter, or a broken roller.

Exhaust shouldnt affect anything. As far as mods go, most dealers wont even look twice at it.

Just hope it's not the same problem I had. I was having ticking noises coming from the front cover area and found out that I was goin to have to have my timing set replaced because GM didn't use tempered ones.

This link has the TSB that mentions what was done to mine to correct the problem. Hopefully something easier might be wrong with yours. Mine didn't have any shavings in the oil but it did have some worn rollers.

Try this and see if it will print out right for ya.

Remember to tell your dealership that they will probably NOT find this on GMDealerworld. When I had mine done, the GMTAC said that it will not be available to dealers to see on dealerworld for some time. This bulletin is only provided on a CALL-IN basis. So they might try and say that they couldn't find it anywhere. They will have to make a repair order on your vehicle and call GM TAC and talk to a rep and then they will verify that this information is correct.

good luck
