low Boost after intake install.
low Boost after intake install.
Hey guys, new to the forum and I need some help. I have an 09 sstc with a muffler delete, I have been running it on a Superchip Cortex 91 perf tune for about 6 months. the tune is nothing special, but it makes it boost around 19 psi. Well the other day i installed an intake. not a cold air, just a cone filter, and it sounds great. the problem is that sometimes it only boosts 10-12 psi a WOT. but other times it goes all the way to 19. i tried puting it back to stock tune, but then the boost went down to like 8 psi. not sure what to do, because i like the way the intake sounds and the better throttle response. but its unpredictable when it will boost high or low. any thought on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks-Nick

Lol no I think something else may be an issue here. Unless that tune really sucks, u should not drop in boost like that just cause u put a new intake on. Did u plug in ur maf sensor after install? But that would throw code. U need a good hp tune. And no u would not have to do anything with injectors, u have a long way to go before ud need to touch those.
I would double check all connections on the intake and make sure all couplers, clamps and pipes are properly seated and secured. It could be a leak of metered air after the MAF. Also the stock boost gauge isn't mechanical it uses info from the ECU. For 100% accurate pressure figures use a mechanical boost gauge.
HHR SS will go into limp mode with ZZP's intake installed without a tune GMS1 doesn't count, says so right on their site "tune highly recommended".
I saw a SS/TC baseline with full bolt ons and the tuner said it was VERY lean, and actually stopped the baseline pull early on the 2nd run.
I run an airbox mod on mine and just got a maf code recently. Doing my clutch soon then the boom tune comes out.
