massive heat from engine bay!
massive heat from engine bay!
So I recently installed my dp, believe it was zzp'. Took off the old one switched 02's, went to autozone, they did not have a new gasket for the 2.0 sc, so I tried the 2.2 gasket for the dp connection to the header/exhaust mani. It seemed good at first, but then Sometimes I see faint white smoke and it is hotter than hell in my engine bay. I look at where the dp connects to the exhaust mani. and I don't know if that's it... could it be a head gasket for some odd reason? Im thinking its the dp gasket or something. Did anyone use exhaust gasket sealer on their dp's? I did not. help?
exhaust manifold was never disassembled.
original gasket and 2.2 gasket were identical

Its not overheating, but I kept a close eye on the coolant temp. and it remains the same as always, but god damn is it hot in there. And no it hasn't always been like this.. you can actually see the heat blowing when I turn the engine off. It moves a piece of electrical tape. something aint right. kind of like the paper taped to fans except idk where the source is.
idk, I could very well be hearing the leak and not know it... I probably do here it. Can I use exhaust gasket sealer on the dp where it meats the exhaust manifold? I know i should be careful as to not get any on the innards. anyone done this.?
its used though... soooo? is it still normal? What about the heat? I know the stock dp i took out had a xylophone looking metal, with no chance for heat to escape, but my new dp has that chinese finger trap looking flex pipe which I think heat escapes easier through. I retightened the bolts on the dp and its steal hot as hell.

after i installed my ZZP midlenght header/dp it smells like my car is on fire after i drive anywhere. nothing is smoking. nothing is askew except for the burning smell... it smells like electrical fire almost
anyways I just might give up on it and see what happens I guess. doesn't look like anything I can do about it, wondered if anyone else had the same problem, but guess not.
You have a tvs on a car that was never suppose to be supercharged in the first place. Kinda unreliable coming from you....

can someone do me a favor and after you cruise around town for like 15 mins, pop your hood and stick your hand where the exhaust manifold is and tell me if it is pretty hot. I mean its not as hot as to where it will scorch my hand, but if I leave my hand hovering over for about 5 mins Im sure itll be fried chicken. Also the block is hot to the touch, much like the supercharger. No cel, no change in coolant temps. Is it possible it was always like this?
