misfiring....
misfiring....
ok so i have had my 06 ss/sc for 3 years now and no problems. i just did the first mod like a month ago which was the airbox mod. after the mod my engine still ran fine. about 3 weeks after my cel comes on so i take it to autozone and i get 3 codes. engine misfire detected, barometric pressure sensor error, and someting about ignition coil. i cant remember the code numbers, i know that would be more helpful. anyways im thinking its my maf cuz thats the only thing i could think of that i messed with that would cause the misfire. so i took my airbox back off and made sure everything was on good and put it back together. drove around a little bit and the light goes off. the engine feels like its still misfiring a little bit but it seemed like it was getting better like it was correcting itself. a few days later the light comes back on and its misfiring like crazy again. i got my injen CAI that day though so i go to my dads and put it on hoping that in the process i can check all the wiring and sensor and stuff and make sure its all good. well i didnt like the idea of my engine misfiring the whole 45 min drive to my dads so i unplugged my battery to reset everything cuz the car runs fine for a little bit with no misfire until everything gets off again. so the light never came back on on the way to my dads, i put the injen on and it seemed to run fine. now about a week later the misfire is back, i can feel it and hear it but no cel. i cant afford to get it scanned cuz its $80(maybe its not misfiring and i dont know what im talking about but it is definitely jerking and bumping in ways it shouldnt, it kind of shudders a lot). does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? would the intake make my car run lean? and if so can that cause a misfire? i need some help guys...
well if its bucking while driving and you got a baro cel. i would say that would be your cause of everything and not the intake. but without knowing what those other 2 codes are exactly we can't really help you out too much after that.
ok i searched all day and found the readout with the codes. P0350 Ignition Coil Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction, P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected, P0105 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Malfunction
well the baro one is probably a faulty map sensor. and i'm not sure about the p0350 one. i can't get into my SI to get further information on it. but the misfire is caused by the other 2. so fix the other 2 and you will fix the misfire.
possibly. like i said i can't get in to view the documents on what the other CEL so i can't tell you if replacing the MAP sensor will fix everything or not. who knows it could be what's causing the other code to trip the MAP sensor code.
About 47K. Thanks for all the help btw, this has just been an extremely annoying problem.
wait i just realized it says ur in canada, i meant 47,000 miles so about 75,600 km
